Hi there That error normally means your SQL query is incorrect. Copy the query over to phpmyadmin and run it there to see if the query renders a result.by Metalaniac - ICT3612 Sem 1

Hi there Am I the only one having trouble getting into the myUNISA as well as the UNISA website? Been down for about 2 days now?? Osprey seem to be working fine.by Metalaniac - ICT3612 Sem 1
The big problem here is the form-tags placement. You are alot of input fields that do not fall in between the form tags, thus, will not get send with the form information. Move the opening form tag up to just below the <h1> tag. That should do the trick.by Metalaniac - ICT2613
You need to set a user on the DB to use. Go to phpMyAdmin, click on your database, then privileges in the tabs at the top. Choose the host as "local" and add a username and password, check all the checkboxes at the bottom, click on "GO" and presto, you have a username and password to use.by Metalaniac - ICT2613
mduduzi77, do you see any spam?by Metalaniac - ICT2613
Also, you are not defining the $employee_number variable. I would suggest to echo the $sql variable just after setting it and trying to run that in the query window on myPHPAdminby Metalaniac - ICT2613
Hi Dumi The error you got above is certainly to do with your form and how you post the data to where. Please show us the code used in your form to assist you further.by Metalaniac - ICT2613
Hi Dumi I believe the error comes from the use of the apostrophes in the SQL query. Good way to test this is to echo the $sql variable before you try and run it. Just remove the single quotes inside the POST variables like this: Language: PHP$sql = "update top_data_capturers set First_Name = ';$_POST';, Surname = ';$_POST, Facility = ';$_POST';, Section = ';$_POST'; where employee_nuby Metalaniac - ICT2613
Hi there An option would be to put the information into the $_SESSION variable. You can add a check to the page to see if the $_SESSION['sitemap'] has been set, then if not, go do the query, else read the info from the SESSION. Hope that helps. PS> 8 sec for a mySQL query is very long. Are you sure the query is optimal?by Metalaniac - ICT2613
Hi there Not to be the impatient one, but when can we expect our marks to be out? And will we be able to view the other students' projects? Thank youby Metalaniac - PHP Sem 2
Hi Mac I also have two questions: 1: The "Year of Registration" field in the course_student table; should it hold the year in which the student registers? As in the current year? Which will make all the current entries 2006? 2: Then I also am awaiting your response on the above question regarding the delete of a course. I have it at the moment that the reference simply gets deby Metalaniac - PHP Sem 2
Done. Ja thanx Dennis, had some trouble with the session stuff. Got it working in the end. Feels like a mechanic trying to fix a broken machine with an old manual.by Metalaniac - PHP Sem 2

Just to add what Mac said; To put it very simply: Keep everything in one directory, including the sub-directories inside it. (/images; /includes ect.) Do NOT link to an image in you My Documents folder. First copy the file INTO your project directory, then link to (or insert) it. It a common mistake, made by millions when uploading to servers. I blame windows for making it too easyby Metalaniac - PHP Sem 2
Completed. Never thought my school computer classes would stay with me: if statements, loops, all in there somewhere. JP Havenga 71122621by Metalaniac - PHP Sem 2
