Hi,
I'm sort of in the same situation as you. From some of the interviews I've been to, it apparently helps if you have shown your skill by doing some apps, in your case C#, along with getting your MCSD. I am preparing for the MCPD.

Hi guys,
I'm one of the many doing this module, but a bit behind as well, with three other modules. I don't recall this upper bound, perhaps that's covered the chapter 4, still to get to.
I'm still trying to comprehend formulating a problem search or something.

So, considering the The Sims game (I haven't played it as yet), would you consider it more of an Interaction Design or Artificial Intelligence concept, or perhaps both?

I see what you mean about the last question. It appears that it still relates to Chapter 3. But, at least they not asking for a search algorithm, yet. Perhaps drawing a diagram to illustrate the search problem may provide a better understanding of the puzzle.

Seriously? We just started. You know, read the text book, making sure to understand. I'm in Chapter 3 at the moment, so still not ready to answer the first question of the assignment.

Thanks, certainly would help a long way, but that means - using me as an example - if I want to show that I'm what I claim I am, I got to show it. So, that means, must make time for some extra-curricular programming tasks, along with current studies and working, there's just not enough hours in a day for that. But, persevere, I guess.
You know, I've applied for some PHP Deve

So, you think the certification exam will not be that easy, well, you won't know till you try, right? Go here, the sample questions, seems extremely similar to the questions in our Unisa exam. If you can answer all those question correct without looking at the answers, then it shouldn't be so hard, I think.

Actually, it is.
If you look at the requirements on Oracle, which I have, all we need is those two books we have. And the exam costs R1400. I am considering it.

Did any of you guys succeed in getting correct outputs when using the substitution variables?
Like for example, Lesson 2 page 26, the following code read:
Language: SQLSELECT last_name, department_id, salary*12
FROM employees
WHERE job_id = ';:job_title';;
I get an error until I do this to the WHERE clause:
Language: SQLWHERE job_id = :';job_title';;
Then on page 27,

How can the three people that are part of a company or corporation, be members. Let say you are the national administrator for the guild and I am the regional administrator for the Durban region, and your job is to maintain the list of members, and list of regional admins. Maintain a list of regional admins, because you could say the regional admins are the children of the national admin. The m

@rez: the assignment lists national/regional administrators and exhibition organizer to require password to login. No need for members, members are like customers, no need for them to access this application.
Do you guys understand the visitor pattern? I was going through the wiki version of visitor pattern which is very different from what I've read in the text. But I didn't read

Yeah, that's what I figured, but well I'm using a previous years assignment 3 answer as a guide and some do not have writers, but have readers, that is what confused me. Anyway, I figured the safest way would be to use them both.
Another question that totally stumps me. On page 4, for the Regional Administrator, it says "Setting up the application is only done once per session

I'm thinking they mean create our own methods for the slots and signals. We know how to do our own slots for any simple clicked signal, but also they probably mean at least one signal of our own making as well would probably win us some extra points. Chapter 9, sliderlcd has an example of creating a signal, instead of clicked() or triggered().
Now, I have a question, when creating reade

Hi all,
I had a thought, some may think differently.
How about uploading our assignments 1 & 2 (since its past due date) on the wikistudents cos311 site (http://wikistudent.ws/Unisa/COS3114). Maybe seeing other coding styles, and the different ways to code something that provides similar end results would help us in the exams.
Although, that means it will be there for following year

Ok, you know the program in the text book, whenever I run it, it doesn't do anything. I mean from what I gather, it supposed to write the xml code stuff into another file. But how is that other file created. That's what I don't get. I'm going on the assumption that the answer is not that different from that code in the textbook.

I'm battling with question 3 of assignment 2. For the life of me I just do not know where or how to start with this particular question. I've tried

When you say web version do you mean, the link that was mentioned in the tutorial letter. If so, I feel that there was not much information in there, then again, the text book doesn't provide a full content of code, because it is in the ezust_utils folder supplied by Unisa. But what the text book does have is some useful reading information, but you will actually have to be reading the
