Please can the names of the two postgrad subject forums "Software specification techniques" kindly be changed to whatever they are supposed to be. It is confusing enough to have to try and convert the new course codes to the old course codes, and try and remember which subject is which. If the codes cannot be changed, the name changes would really help. Thanks.by nanthu - Postgraduates

Will the new course codes be applied to the forum names? E.g. INF431L is now INF4831. And is there a forum for INF4883 - enterprise architecture? Thanks.by nanthu - Postgraduates
My understanding is that Ass 01 was purely for admission, and the other two will count towards your year mark in the way mentioned above.by nanthu - INF420H
I wrote on autism, haven't got my assignment back yet, but got a v good mark. Sounds from the comments made that perhaps you weren't off topic but maybe needed better structure. How you put forward your essay and arguments at this level is quite important, as is referencing multiple sources, I think they would have said if you were off topic. How bad was your mark?by nanthu - INF420H
I would say yes. Check out careerjunction, pnet, gumtree.Put your CV up and set yourself up for job alerts.by nanthu - Jobs & Opportunities
@ ronniesmith: I work in the IT Dept of an org that uses various SAP modules (I myself don't work on SAP). SAP certification is very expensive and I only know of one person who actually paid for it themselves. This person was on contract for other IT work at our org, knew that a permanent basis admin position was coming up, went on the SAP course and then got the job with the org'by nanthu - Jobs & Opportunities
As I don't have the article, I can't comment on specifics, but I would see if it is possible to re-interpret these questions from the perspective of the article, e.g. 3. what was the topic of investigation (requirements elicitation in OSS)? 5. from what angle did they investigate or write about requirements elicitation in OSS (i.s. why did they find it necessary to write this articleby nanthu - INF417N
FYI: my first comment was based on assignment 4 (it does exist but is not for submission). I don't think it matters that you can't find a specific 'problem' that is addressed. 'Problem' could be taken to mean topic of investigation. In my opinion, this part of the assignment is more about being able to find your own research article(s) within a broad area of knowlby nanthu - INF417N
Assisgnment 2 or assignment 4? Thread name is Assignement 2, but first post refers to assignment 4.by nanthu - INF417N
Being an agile methodology, I guess that they want us to discuss XP specifically.by nanthu - INF417N
The 'Assignment details' section states "you will be required to make extensive use of references in addition to those listed for this assignment". So probably best to do as much reading as you can, over and above that suggested.by nanthu - INF417N
Response from Mr van Dyk is posted on the MyUnisa discussion forum.by nanthu - INF420H
LOL. There's a thread on the MyUnisa discussion forum and I've just sent a mail to the lecturer about question 3 as there was no response on the so-called official forum. I don't know how we are expected to do this - I don't see any value in it when there are so many obviously better alternatives. Even if you went to an old age home you'd still have to kidnap someoneby nanthu - INF420H

Hi Judy, Question Q 1.3. is conceptually basically the same in the 7th Ed. except for small details that are changed, e.g. 'executive vice-president' is replaced with 'chief information officer'; 'publisher of paperback books ' is replaced with 'regional gasoline distribution corporation', etc. The numbers of staff and their descriptions, and the cost ofby nanthu - INF417N
There is no forum for INF461S (STRATEGIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS PLANNING): although I have nothing specific to say at this stage, it would be great if a forum could be created in case we want to discuss anything. Thanks. Regards.by nanthu - Postgraduates

In my experience, you need to chase it up yourself on a regular basis. My registration last year took a very long time - I also registered early on December (2009) and only after several follow ups did the registration eventually go through quite late in the new year. This delayed the start of my studies quite significantly and had a domino effect for the rest of the year - I never managed to catby nanthu - Postgraduates
Am hoping to register for INF417 this year and look forward to seeing why the two different subjects. Having said that, I did find INF450 valuable in my work as a BA. And yes it was tough with lots of stuff to go through. Can UNISA tell us why they are dropping INF450?by nanthu - INF450P
I'd just like to say a big thank you to mac for your regular presence, input, and feedback on questions on this forum during 2010/11. It can be very difficult sometimes to get lecturers' responses to questions posted on the forums (Osprey or MyUnisa), even though these are supposed to be one of the official communications media. Q1. Same/similar dangers as with any other type of social interaction - how the individual you are interacting with presents themselves is not necessary true or accurate of who they really are or what they are capable of. The ease with which an individual can misrepresent themselves, or tailor their representation is, in my opinion, not necessarily greater in the virtual sphere. But the level ofby nanthu - INF462T
Thanks very much. Perhaps the lecturers have access to the complete set of slides and can make them available to us? I see such a request is already posted to them on the 'official' discussion forum on MyUnisa.by nanthu - INF418P
