There were 2 of us at DLI in Durban and it had me worried when the other guy got up and left with 30-45mins to go (can't remember exactly). I never really got the hang of induction, tried to practice it a few times for this exam but eventually decided to write it off. I did manage to get through some of the inductive steps so hopefully I get some marks there. The rest of the paper was greatby brettc - COS361F
Exam was great, most questions were from past assignments. I only stumbled on the P4 request (2 marks) and I kind of wrote down a mixture of guesses and facts for the last question not a big fan of essay questions... But still, best exam of the lot so far. One more exam left!by brettc - COS3216
@Kyle, Yeah we've done mostly the same subjects, I did INF305 last year though. I have COS3216 and COS361F leftby brettc - COS351D
I thought it was quite difficult, i don't know how i did though... The puzzle state space was quite a challenge, I remember seeing the problem while doing assignments. The resolution refutation question was ok, I also found most of the statements to be useless and only used 3 or 4 of them i think. Hopefully my attempt at the alpha-beta will get me some marks because I know I didn't gby brettc - COS351D
I am hoping that we don't get an alpha-beta question, this has to be one of the most difficult concepts of the whole module. I've looked at so many examples and I still don't fully get itby brettc - COS351D
As far as I understand it: (T,F) represents the amount of water in the Three and Five liter jugs respectively So (1,2) means there is 1l in the 3l jug and 2l in the 5l jug. f3 : if T < 3 then (3,F) Filling up the 3l jug will mean T=3 and F=F (unchanged) f5 : if F < 5 then (T,5) Filling up the 5l jug will mean F=5 and T=T (unchanged) e3 : if T > 0 then (0,F) e5 : if F &gby brettc - COS351D
i think i'm gonna try my luck and take a calculator in with me.by brettc - COS351D
The 0 and 1 in the first line is because there are 4 entries for Overcast, and all four of them have a YES Outlook. 0/4 = 0 & 4/4 = 1. Then you have 5/4 * I(3/5, 2/5), you take the p value which is 3/5 = 0.6 go to the table in appendix A (at the end of the tut) find 0.6 and it gives you the value for I, which is 0.98.by brettc - COS351D
So is it safe to assume that we won't get any decision trees? Would be quite a bummer as decision trees are fairly easy...by brettc - COS351D
Is anyone doing the older exam papers? It asks to use resolution to determine what James does when he needs money. So how do we go about this? Do we assume what he does and state a goal?by brettc - COS351D
Agree with everything Kyle said. I hated this exam! I thought that a third level module would be beyond the "list the 10 steps" and "give the 7 things" types of questions. And in all the past exam papers we were given reference tables to calculate the FPs and stuff... but I guess it was a copy of the question from the assignment so have a cracker polly. I hope I did enoughby brettc - INF308J
And here I thought that they wouldn't ask about regex because it was explained so well Well first it took me a good 5 minutes to think of a different metaphor for the pattern, I first thought about a TV broadcast but thought it was too close to the example they gave us. I also didn't mention anything about QEvent or it's derived classes, but I did speak about signals and slots, sby brettc - COS3114
I'll just repost what I posted in the other thread I thought it went ok, the last question on regular expressions was a surprise, was not expecting that but I managed to come up with something that should be worth a few marks at least. I completely messed up the Observer pattern question It was interesting to me that there was so little code to be written, even the 2009 paper had moreby brettc - COS3114
So...what did you all think? I thought it went ok, the last question on regular expressions was a surprise, was not expecting that but I managed to come up with something that should be worth a few marks at least. I've always answered programming questions in pencil, haven't failed an exam yet so I think it's acceptableby brettc - COS3114
Pretty stoked with my result too, I was not expecting to do well at all.by brettc - COS3114
Tut letter 104 and 103 are available nowby brettc - COS3216
Do we get an exam tutorial letter with information on the exam and maybe sample questions?by brettc - COS3216
I think it must be a mistake... I also got 18 and looking at their answer, I can't see how they get to 20.by brettc - INF308J

Same here, was a bit bummed about the tic-tac-toe game tree not being marked considering all the work I put into it...but yeah, hopefully the next one is betterby brettc - COS351D

What kind of rules can you apply to ~K1 once it's in the box?by brettc - COS361F
I tried a few things on the weekend, even sent an email to the lecturers asking for some assistance. I tried to assume ~K1(p & q) but not sure what to do with the ~K1 once it's in the box.by brettc - COS361F
I wonder how long it'll be before we get the memo?by brettc - COS351D
Yeah, me too...not sure where I went wrong though. rezrovs Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just got the results now - did so well on the > first two and totally bombed out on this one...by brettc - COS351D
