Hi all, I have it under good authority that if we work through the assignments thoroughly and we work out the sample exam paper that was sent to us, we have a good chance at a pass. Hope all of us pass. Good studying and good writing. See the Pretoria guys at the exam venue on Wednesday, Gert.by gert_yes - COS3216
Hi all, So we went through the text book and how again do we study for this exam paper? This is a huge amount of work and I for one unfortunately do not have the memory capacity to memorize this amount of information. I thought of making sure the calculation/application part can be done (about 57% according to the exam tut letter), hoping it is all calculations and that I will get mostby gert_yes - COS3216
Hi Guys, I just want to state that about 95% of the 27 papers I wrote at Unisa I wrote in pencil. I never had a problem with it and the markers also didn't have a problem. This year I only used pen. Since I usually erase all the unwanted stuff from the exam book I only used pencil in the past. I saw something this year and previous years that I only realized this year could help me gaiby gert_yes - COS201V
Hi All, So how was the paper for you all? I don't know if feedback from students on the paper would be considered by the lecturers but it might be worthwhile to give some. I think it could help the lecturers to get a feel for the work they have done and how it was perceived by others, especially their students. I found it wasn't to bad, not as bad as the preparation itself. Oneby gert_yes - COS201V
Eish, But I thought 0 was also divided by 6 since 0/6=0. I may be wrong, but let's see... Gert.by gert_yes - COS201V
Hi brettc, I used good old Microsoft Word 2007 to draw these FA's and all other diagrams. I am though going to try jflap. Enjoy, Gert.by gert_yes - COS201V
Hi All, Could these be two FA's which describes L1 and L2? Thanks, Gert.by gert_yes - COS201V
Hi All, Could anyone tell me which part of Kleene's theorem we have to use for questions 3 and 4? I was able to get an NFA with 3 states by trail and error using the techniques from Chapter 5, but I don't know if we have to use one of the parts of Kleene's theorem. The same goes for question 4. According to theorem 7 p.137 of Cohen there is a FA for every NFA that accepby gert_yes - COS201V
Hi Thomas, I got my provisional results today, and was shocked. According to the 0831234 provisional results system, I got 69%. I can't believe it. We discussed the paper extensively after writing it and I hoped for a pass, but this result is a relief. I never thought I would pass (provisionally or not). We also came to the conclusion that the lecturer, since he marked the assignmenby gert_yes - COS332A
Hi All, How is it possible that 10 points in a exam paper can be asked on something that was not even in the syllabus. Raleigh and also the last question. Can't even remember the name of that method. This means that we started of with only 90 points. Great going lecturer. Superb paper, or not. As if all students that I spoke with after the paper didn't even attend certain ofby gert_yes - COS332A
Hi All, Any one get what is to happen here. Liebmann is a repetitive calculation of the same grid point values basically getting an average of the four surrounding grid points, until tollerance is met. Any one get the rewriting of the difference equation into iterative formula as asked in that question? (Jan/Feb 2007 Paper Q5 a(ii)). Thanks, Gert.by gert_yes - COS332A
Sorry All, I forgot to mention that it is the solutions to the 2007 assignments that was supposedly posted on the COS332 myUnisa site under announcements. By now I know there was nothing wrong on my side since the other COS332 students also couldn't find it on the myUnisa. Maybe a problem on their side... Cyall, Gert.by gert_yes - COS332A
Hi All, I managed to get the secretary to mail me the stuff. I also included two other documents that would be of interest to all. Follow these links to download these files in .zip format: 2007 solutions more stuff even more stuff Unfortunately the 2007 solutions were scanned in by the lecturer and mail that way. It created a HUGE 9.1MB file, but it is worth downloading it.by gert_yes - COS332A
Hi All, I was just wondering how you guys see the exam paper looks like. If you look at the previous paper that was sent to us, do you think it will have a similar format. Obviously there is not enough time in the exam to calculate all values for all questions and I see in the later questions in the paper only the initial work for the methods were tested (e.g. Setup system of equations butby gert_yes - COS332A
The solutions is not even remotely for the given questions. Funny hey, a module with so little students. I wonder why? Hope someone else got the correct solutions to assignment 4. I didn't, so I do not even know if my work was correct or not. I got 100% (25 credits) for the assignment, but my answers to question one doesn't match the answers given by Thomas in a previous thread.by gert_yes - COS332A
And at last: Now this looks better, still not a pretty picture, but it's there hey. Have a nice one. Thanks again.by gert_yes - COS340A
Sorry, Made a mistake with that one. Later.by gert_yes - COS340A
Ok, After the explanation by lycium and some good old fashion thinking and number crunching, I got a newer version of the "Earth". Unfortunately it's for half-way flat people, like me. Thanks for your help.by gert_yes - COS340A
Thanks for your reply lycium. I think I'm getting there, but still need some work to do. This is the current situation: At least I can see that I'm using different regions of the image array. Thanks so far.by gert_yes - COS340A
Hi Reanie, I am using it in the second code segment. The lines you see on the sphere in the texture map is actually complete small images (of the wrong color off course) of the image array that we got for this assignment. It seems to me I am doing something wrong with the actual mapping code and also with the image array generation part: FILE * fd; fd = fopen("earth.bmp&qby gert_yes - COS340A
Hi All, I'm really struggling with this assignment. After taking the week of and working only on this assignment, I came to the following conclusion: I just don't get it. The assignment is already 3 days late and now I'm almost ready to give up, hence this message. I red the textbook, the Redbook, Cunningham and searched the internet for help on this texture mapping stuby gert_yes - COS340A
Hi Guys, This is a tough module and the textbook is very complicated. Is there someone out there that could maybe help me to understand how they got to the results of example 6.2 (p. 369 G&W 7th ed.). I also saw that this text is full of typos, hence i do not know if the question contains a typo or what. Thanx.by gert_yes - COS332A
