confusion between the Taut and Ana Con

Hi there,
I am having a bit of a headache trying to see the diff. between the analytical and tautological consequences.
Especially in the You Try It sections on pages 114 and 116.
How do we tell when a sentence needs the Ana Con or the Taut Con rule?
