anyone agree that there were questions asked outside of tut 103s material?

in addition to the Usability, can i please enquire whether the following was rightly asked in the exam, as it differs from tut 103:

Simulations - (3 marks) - refers to Chapter 7 - Tut103 said no Chapter 7.
Well/ill structured (2 marks) - refers to de Villiers - not one of the 5 articles
Full / empty technology (2 marks) - refers to de Villiers - not one of the 5 articles
OELE (2 marks) - refers to Chapter 9 - Tut103 said no Chapter 9
Media/interaction modes (4 marks)
Cognitive tools (4 marks) - refers to Chapter 9 - Tut103 said no Chapter 9
Usability Evaluation (6 marks + 4 marks)

in all, 27 marks I feel should not count towards this examination.

I agree with you, when i saw the first question on simulations i was confused because i left that out of assignments and chapters from the text, and then those questions that I could not recognise further on surprised me because they were not from the chapters that were given, I knew all the topics and subtopics...

Everthing else i answered fully...I wonder what's going to happen...think we should email Prof about it?

hi, I emailed the prof yes (the exact same post i used here), and posted on myUnisa, if you perhaps email her it could back up the theory so it would be great in my opinion smiling smiley

I apologised to the Professor after the last email she sent, I agree I should not have questioned Simulations and Media/Interaction.

before she sent the mail, I hoped for a Distinction - now Im just hoping for a pass.

When I skimmed through the paper as soon as I received it, I said
to myself "Attempt the examinable portions FIRST and then relax
and have fun answering the non-examinable parts with a pinch of
humour."
And I did just that.

It was very unprofessional of the INF460 department to give a
paper like this to students. Some students could have wasted
precious time answering or concentrating on non-examinable parts
and hence not having time to concentrate on the examinable parts.
This could impact on the the way students answered the examinable
parts. For example what if a student wasted a lot of time on
Question 6 (non-examinable) and as a consequence didn't have
enough time to complete Question 7 or did Question 7 in a
haphazard manner under limited time?

Even though I answered the non-examinable parts, I doubt they'll
mark it.

@jxharding and Niri - did the Prof say anything about which questions will not be marked etc?

I agree with Cherokee...totally unprofessional. This is the one big job that the lecturer has for most of the year, and even that's a mess up. I will definitely also send Prof an email and refer her to this first post.

Looks like were possibly having the exam marked out of 80, so hopefully we are cool now, even after that very direct yet politically correctly worded message on myUnisa in reply to the first post.
Damn I went from being sure i'll get a distinction to just hoping I pass this module in less than 24 hours.
