A player of his quality and experience could take the pressure off the younger Brazilian and give him the chance to develop a bit more. We see Rafa as the long term solution but Manchester United need cover there. If they went for someone like Everton’s Seamus Coleman he would expect to play every week so it could be curtains for the brilliant Rafa.
