The portfolio requirements
June 29, 2011 02:46PM
A significant number of students from semester 1 submitted the same PHP code as prt of their portfolio. Note that a portfolio is an exam, and just as you can not cheat in the exam, so you cannot submit a portfolio with the same code - no matter how hard you try to hide it within different HTML code, or just by changing the variable names. You will be caught out. While you can post code here for support, you should never post the complete code. An error is typically generated per line, and you should only post the line of code with the error.

Also note that the portfolio requirements will change because of the rampant plagiarism that has taken place. So it is bad news for those students that though they can "borrow" code from semester 1 students and submit this semester. If you are NOT interested in learning PHP, then please cancel this course and go and sell life assurance. You are here to learn to code in order that your diploma is a true reflection of your skills, and not to cheat.

I am currently busy drafting the tut 102 which describes the new portfolio requirements. In the mean time, continue working through the CD (H&L tutorials) as described in the tut 101.

Do not worry about the new requirements yet. Work through the tuts first.

Mac,

I have completed assignment 1 and I am looking for the email address where the mail has to be sent.

I have a problem with assignment 2, I have gone through the book and still I am not able to connect to my sql file.
I did the code according to the book and only replaced the names where needed.

Please assist on this matter or give me the correct way to do this.

I used the mysql program on easyphp and saved the file in my working directory.
The php is in a different working folder, but it has got a reference to localhost.

Thank you

You must sort that out with myUnisa. If we (me and students) start distributing tut letters through unofficial channels then it violates the copyright laws of Unisa! That is just the way it is, and you cannot use these forums to for illegal requests. Tut 102 should be in the post by now as well.

You need to do the clock system. You are not registered for Sem 2, therefore you cannot get the tut letter 102.

Hi Mac,

Just want to be clear, I am also Sem 1 student. Am I required to submit Assignment 1?
If No. Do I just continue with my Clock sytem potfolio with the same requirements as was in Sem 1?

Thank you.

For all I know your file is empty, you have not uploaded it correctly, you have an error in your code.... etc etc so more background on the problem is required.

Perhaps, if you have read the forum, you would have picked up that you may have to use index.php as opposed to index.html because some servers do not interpret php code in html files.
