Greetings, I'm experiencing problems registering on www.freewebhostingarea.com

I registered my domain name: dragonrider.freeoda.com which is available on 6te.net server and they mailed me my username and password. So I went to http://6te.freewebhostingarea.com/ to login and I get the error message "Invalid username or password".

Read the details they have sent you carefully - probably just a typo. Else redo, register another domain on another server.

I'm having a problem registering, it tells me that if I need to create an account. I must send an email to register@freewha.com. It also tells me Automatic registration is temporary disabled. What must I do, should I send the email or is there another way to register.

Ahem mweshe.....

From the tut letter:

Posting questions for support
For a web site to be functional there must be orderliness. If not, people will not know where they are in your site or where to look for information. Hence we plead with you to keep order in the forum by:
• giving some thought to the subject line of your topics,
• and by not duplicating topics!
We have provided you with the format to report back on the manual topics. Should you wish to initiate a discussion on a topic (ask a question, or dot down a tip for other students), then the format of the subject line changes to Question: Section: (Topic). Assume you have a question on why your images are not showing on your web page:
Images not showing: HTML (Lesson 1: Topic 1A)
The part in brackets is optional, i.e. when you have a specific question related to a topic, then add it in brackets. When your question is more general, i.e. it covers a few topics, then leave it out.
Be short and concise in the subject line about the problem you are experiencing. Do not start a topic with a non-descriptive subject line like “Help!” Be a little more specific: e.g. “CD not working!” This way you make it easy for everybody else to see what topics have already been raised. Once again please scan all the topics before posting a question – it is very likely that your question has been answered already! Only if you have a totally new question do you start a new topic.

If the above sounds very prescriptive, it is not intended. If you follow the guidelines in using the forum, then you will not get frustrated in finding information!

Hi Ahmed

I tried to visit your site but the link is not correct. I notice there is a space between // and the a in ahmed, so the link won't work. However, I removed the space and managed to get there. Whenever you want to copy a URL I always copy it from the address bar at the top, rather than trying to type it out, and then paste it wherever. In any event, that aside ....

I see that your background image is also missing. Have you uploaded the pictures and did you upload them into the same folder as your index.html page? If you created an images folder (as I did) then you would need to reference the images within that folder and as per the example below:
Language: HTML
<img src= "images/DSCF1305.JPG" width="200" height="200">

mac has also posted assistance with regard to images under the topic images on the forum smiling smiley

I eventually got it right, picture and all. My website is: http://ahmedsulliman.freevar.com. It took some time, but I did manage.
Now I am behind with my lessons. Got to catch-up now!!
The trick was to load each file individually onto the server.
I am the guy with my grandaughter on the far right.
Thanks evertbody for your help, especially Rowena!!!

My pleasure Ahmed. Perhaps you would like to rename your page to index.html. That will load the webs page, instead of the index page smiling smiley
Like this one >>> http://rowena.eu5.org/

Most servers are set up so that index.html is automatically the first page that opens.

And your image is too big in size - I know it because it takes along time to load give its small size (and if I look it is indeed 2.2MB - WAY too big!!!!). You should use Paint.Net to make is smaller in size. For that size it should be no bigger than 25kb).

Thanks Mac. I will resize my image. Thanks again Rowena for your positive comments and advice.

I managed to upload my picture using Coffeecup HTML Editor, but now the problem is on my website it shows that the picture is there but it doesn't want to show, i tried all the examples shown on the "images forum" non of them help... Any advice?.
Re: Free Webhosting Area - registration

Lesego you may have uploaded your html page using your HTML editor but it did not upload the picture. It isn't there. Using firefox, if you right click on the page and go to page info and click on media, you will see that it shows size and dimensions as 0. Usually that window would also display the image. It doesn't. If you have uploaded the image and put it into a different folder than the root, that would be another reason it is not displaying.

Lesego - you have posted a query on this in two different places, and the information you provided in the post here above is incomplete, leading Rowena to not answer your real problem - which is better explained in the other post. Please keep order on these forums....

Had trouble registering for free web hosting with the service provided on the tutorial cd. Does it make a difference whether I register on a different service or not? I managed to get a working account on phpzilla.net. Had a bit of trouble loading an image from a directory, and had to settle on keeping the html file and image in the same folder. I know they're running it on Linux, not sure how that could affect it though.
