The South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) has a position for an IT person with Web Development, Content Management System, Programming, Systems Development and Data Base Development Skills. The person will be responsible for developing the core IT system for the Online Physics Teaching and Learning Platform for SA in addition to maintaining the SAIP IT systems

Location : Pretoria, Gauteng
Requirements : Applicants must be in possession of at least a Diploma in IT or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field and should have;
1. A minimum of one (1) year’s experience in an IT environment
2. Sound Programming and software development skills
3. Sound knowledge of Joomla Content management system, Community Builder Pro and CBSubs, INDICO, MS-Access and SQL databases
4. Sound knowledge of PhP, MyAdmin and MySQL
5. Website design, and maintenance experience
6. An ability to configure and maintain standard software platforms e.g. Linux and Apache
7. An ability to support Windows based systems
8. Excellent analytical and communication skills and a creative and problem-solving aptitude
9. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Duties : Main Responsibilities include;
1. Maintaining websites and ensuring that the SAIP web servers, hardware and software are operating properly
2. Design, generate and revise web pages
3. Administrate the SAIP server
4. Regulate and manage access rights of different users on website
5. Design and develop SAIP IT systems to support its various projects and activities most importantly the SAIP Online Physics Teaching and Learning Platform
6. Manage the SAIP INDICO Conferences and Events Management System
7. Work with publishers and graphic designers to produce publications from the SAIP conference system
8. Manage the IT support side of all SAIP conference proceedings
9. Provide support for SAIP office IT equipment e.g. software installations and update, procurement, user support etc
10. Manage and maintain e-mail and social media platforms system
11. Manage the SAIP membership databases
