The South African Institute for Distance Education (Saide) is offering 2 Ed Tech positions in Johannesburg: one senior, and one at a mid-level.

Saide offers two exciting opportunities, based in Johannesburg, to contribute to various educational projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Saide, a well-established non-profit organization, works at a policy and systemic level with governments and other institutions, and supports educational programmes designed to increase equitable access to lifelong learning. Saide has particular interest in promoting the development and use of open education resources.

1) Programme Specialist: Learning Technologies (Senior)

The incumbent will be responsible for:
Shaping Saide’s strategic direction w.r.t. learning technologies
Leading and contributing to development projects in learning technologies
Contributing to the professional development and support of Saide educational staff.

Applicants should have:
At least an appropriate honours degree
At least ten years’ experience in higher or further education
The ability to undertake and support research.

2) Education Information Systems Specialist (mid-level)

The incumbent will be responsible for:
Leading and/or contributing to educational technology projects
Strategy management and support of Saide’s IT systems.

Applicants should have:
An honours degree in Information Systems or cognate discipline
At least five years’ appropriate experience.

BOTH Positions: Generic Requirements

Applicants should:
Have good academic writing skills
Have effective workshop facilitation and oral communication skills
Exercise initiative, be flexible, highly organized and hardworking
Enjoy working in teams as well as independently
Be prepared to travel locally and in the region.

Remuneration will be commensurate with skills and experience.
