In tutorial letter 101 on Page 7 it says that Unit 1 (Chapters 1 & 2 of prescribed book) are for background knowledge and will not be examined however in tutorial letter 103 on page 3 it says that these two chapters can count up to 5% of the exam. Can a lecturer please clarify if these chapters will be examined or not.

I am also wondering about it. Can a lecturer please clarify otherwise it may end up as the INF305 exam for us.

FYI from lecturer:

We really want students to read through these 2 chapters as it contains essential info for the work later on. So the between 0 and 5 means maybe a MCQ or short question....you should be able to answer when only reading through this once.
