Background
The company which is based in Pretoria, and has offices nationally, is looking for motivated candidates to be trained as security advisors. Prospective candidates will have either three years relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in IT/ Computer Science or an Hon/ Masters/ PhD with sound academic symbols.
Purpose of Job
To ensure (with minimum guidance) that information security is applied and maintained in compliance with a high standard within the company and relevant clients
Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) and inherent tasks / activities
Client (institution) liaison and service:
• Liaise with clients on a regular basis and build good working relations
• Visit clients according to identified needs, to promote security advising service and to assist with security projects and / or security situations
• Assist in liaising with the operational process / structures regarding security trends identified
• Assist in determining security needs of clients, obtain and collect security relevant information
• Ensure that all available and relevant information regarding clients are captured on the client database
• Actively participate and contribute as project team member in projects related to line-function
• Maintain a well-balanced interpersonal relationship with clients, management, operational members and stakeholders
• Apply a professional code of conduct and adhere to company’s core values and work ethos
Advising with minimum guidance: security consultancy service
• Assist in conducting research on security best practices and communicating findings to management and clients
• Assist in assessing and enhancing existing business processes and procedures from a risk perspective, ongoing
• Assist in analysing and evaluating security needs and shortfalls
• Assist in evaluating implemented recommendations and advice thereon
• Participate in the compilation of contingency plans in consultation with clients
Security compliance: assessment / audit
• Assist in conducting information security audits according to prescribed processes and in alignment to legislative guidelines
• Participate in follow-up inspections at client to ensure compliance
• Identify possible security breaches and or shortfalls
• Report security breaches/violations/compromises to responsible structures
• Assist in conducting preliminary investigations into possible security breaches and other security-relevant incidents
• Participate in relevant security operations per management request (e g after hours inspections)
Security awareness and training:
• Assist in compiling and updating security awareness programmes
• Assist in conducting inspections and security awareness orientation programmes and training of newly appointed security personnel
• Market security advisory service to clients
