To whom does the registration fee go?
c) Part of the money goes to the Internet Service Providers and the other part goes to ICCAN(The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)

Do any ISP’s provide a free domain name registration?
www.doteasy.com
They offer free domain registering, but charge for web-hosting.
It seems that most ISP’s somehow make their registering in fine print, or make their host renewal, or web-hosting very expensive.

3. Domain name registration:
www.serv.co.za
the price changes depending on the domain extention for example:
.co.za R55.00 for 1yr
.za.net R5.00 for 1yr
.za.org R5.00 for 1yr

Other extentions are more expensive and price increase ever year or so as below:
Domain Ext 1 Year 2 Years 3 Years 5 Years 10 Years
.com R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00
.net R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00
.org R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00
.biz R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00
.info R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00
.us R 85.00 R 171.00 R 256.00 R 425.00 R 850.00

Other domain hosting sites charge a monthly fee for example www.register.com charges $8.95 per month.
I could not find any ISP’s that offer a free registration
The most common form of charge is a once of registration fee then a monthly or yearly fee afterwards.
The registration fee goes to ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)

http://www.sadomain.co.za
Domain registration for R200/year
Domain registration and hosting R250/year

http://www.afrihost.com/domains
Domain registration and hosting R300/year

Fees go to the Internet Service Provider (ISP), as well as to ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)

Free domain registration and hosting is offered by sites such as http://ultimatesitehost.com

Most domain registration services offer web hosting for a slightly higher price, and others offer free anonymity while others charge a little extra to avoid you spam and telemarketing ploys. Many of these ISPs allow you to use a custom sitebuilder which hybrids component based GUI commands with actual html components that allow you to be more specific with your style. However, often styles are limited to the package you choose; often the cheaper the package, the fewer style templates you are offered. This can sometimes mean that you are unable to edit the style yourself and are forced to base your website style on templates of the ISP, and it is only by paying a little more that you are able to freely edit your page.
