im havong trouble understanding chapter8, building the analysis model. is requirement anlysis part of analysis model or is it the opposite? requirement analysis just elaborates on requirements and analysis model provides a representation...am i correct?

requirement analysis elaborates on requirement by use of model (class diagram, user case etc...)

is analysis modeling just a evalution/scrutiny of the system representation from requirement analysis?

yes it is..analysis modelling follows requirement analysis...at least thts what i understood..

Does anybody know if we have to read from section 8.5 onwards??? or do we assume that its only to section 8.4

According to tutorial letter 102 we must only read 8.3 till 8.4 not 8.5 onwards.

I sent a mail to the lecturers a while back. Here's the response:

Dear Student

The drawing of diagrams for this 2-hour paper (where we have to test a year’s work) is not that important that we will ask a substantial amount of questions on it e.g. Draw …… but be careful not to ignore all diagrams in total. Know what they are for, know why they are important and be able to “read” them.

You will not be examined on Chapter 8, paragraph 8.5 – 8.8, but study paragraph 8.1 and 8.2 and read (as for an exam) paragraph 8.3 and 8.4.
