So what'd you all think about the exam?
I thought it was great, a few things I blanked on like Q7 and the proofs for a CFL closed under Kleene closure, but overall I think I did ok smiling smiley

Good paper...

I'm glad this one is dusted, I've had my fill of Daniel I A Cohen for awhile...

LOL, I agree: he's been quite a fixture over the past few years! Overall quite a fair paper, as expected but more drawings (hope pencil is acceptable), finished with a few minutes to spare.

Also think it was alright, but the time was just a little bit too short. Did the 2PDA in the last 5 minutes!

Didn't finish ... pencilled the TM , and penciled the mods very roughly, and then went and tackled the other stuff and forgot to come back to this. Answered out of order, and realised I left the easy stuff till last - like question 1 just finished in time. But did not convert rough -marked as such - work into proper TM.
Hard ? - No. Time - yikes not enough for me anyway.

Definitely not enough time. Figuring out, drawing and then testing machines takes TIME!!!

ja.

Funny enough I battled with 1a more than the others.

Had to spend the last 15 mins of the exam doing alterations to my TM as I realized that I had introduced non-determinism into it.

The exam was fair. I also think the time was not enough.

I've taken the advice from another subject's lecturer: Do the easy stuff first, then the more difficult ones. So, my answers is soooo deurmekaar, but I've marked each one nicely.

It was ok I think, was not sure of 2PDA Q , was not sure to draw or explain it.

smiling smiley I enjoyed it! was very stressed in the beginning and just just finished in time had 5 minutes to spare.
managed to do everything and my diagrams all went well did not get stuck there, i though that some of them like the big TM and 2PDA etc. may stump me but i managed.

Yeah I drew it too...hope that was right

Jip - was not impressed to draw the 2PDA iso explaining.
Re: Exam 2009

Hey Reanie, do you mean that you explained it instead of drawing it?
It was an easier one that 2PDA simply push x onto stack 1 and push x twice onto stack 2
and then for the second clump of letters read and pop for each once.
and for the last clump of letters read and pop once since stack 2 now contains 2 * n X's

I did do a drawing - read the question correctly.
My version was to push X on stack 1 after reading first group, then push Y on stack 2, then for last group, need to be able to pop a X and Y for each 2 read.

[Edit]
PS: Hey, I still remember what I wrote in an exam a day ago!!! smile

Kewl, I hope we passed well!
I feel confident but will only jump up and down in joy when i see the actual results in front of me in black and white.
Can't wait. Now I have to start reading that enormous textbook on HCI before the 24th, at least it is a good read smiling smiley and no mathematical proofs to remember just content and knowing which content they are looking for when they ask questions in the exam.

Goodluck to all with the rest of the exams!

HCI?
Need all the luck I can get.
Textbook and tutorial letters are lying somewhere everywhere. Only attempted ass 1 and decided COS340/COS301 is more important.

Im also doing HCI, as well as COS221 and COS211 in between....eek!
