b) The registration fee goes the company that is registering the domain, and from them if they are outsourcing anything

c) There is always something free on the web free hosting is not anything new... but like all things... you get what you pay for,
Some companies give you a a little teazer when it comes to that... the free bit only covers so much, then you have to pay to upgrade or something in those lines... something free is a bargain but that bargain might just be the deciding factor in your business or site

it costs R50 to register a .co.za, ISPs add an extra fee for their services, but you can actually register the domain yourself and only pay for the hosting services. The registration fee goes to the registrar, in this case CO.ZA(Uniforum SA). check http://co.za

There are many sites to register a domain name of which I will mention 2:
1 www.sadomain.co.za - The cost is from R100 to register a domain name
2 www.bargainhunter.co.za - The cost is from R100 to register a domain name
I think the fees goes to ICANN the Internet Corporation for assigned names and numbers if it does not go to the company who provides the service but I might be wrong, I could not realy find an answer for that question.

I looked at the following ISP's
1 iBurst - They do not provide a FREE domain registration
2 Vodacom - They do not provide a FREE domain registration
3 MTN - They do not provide a FREE domain registration
4 Telkkom - They do not provide a FREE domain registration

Domain name registration services on the internet:

www.web-inn.co.za (R 150 per month etc)
www.sadomain.co.za (from R 100 to R 400 to register)
www.digitaldomainz.com (R 300 – R 70/year + R 230 once off)

Some of the money goes to official registration, and the remainder of the fee goes to other companies that perform various additional services. There is many different variation regarding costs, depending on where you go, it is always best to shop around for the best price that suite your company.
The more you pay, the better you get.
