TASK 2C-4 – Question 2
July 22, 2008 08:25PM
Domain registration services:
1. www.is-commerce.co.za
2. www.imaginet.co.za
3. www.datapro.co.za
4. www.hostingdude.com
5. www.websitesource.com
6. www.webafrica.co.za
7. www.africaregistry.com
8. www.internet-web-hosting.com
Internationally the price varies from $1.99 from hostingdude, to $35 from Africaregistry .
Registering a co.za with local domain registration services costs between R50 and R200, free registration is available but only if one signs up for hosting as well (e.g. datapro, websitesource, and internet-web-hosting).
The fees go to the ISP, though one presumes that the ISPs pay a part of that to ICANN.
In short, domains with co.za are less expensive than .com or other. Also, one must shop around and check for reputable service providers, especially if one wishes to take advantage of the free registration with hosting. Perhaps it would be best to just register the name with the cheapest option (godaddy or hostingdude) and think about hosting at a later stage, when the site is ready to be published.
