Site examined – www.fredfrap.com (Found on www.webpagesthatsuck.com)
Evident issues
- Background too colorful
- There is a ‘Click to Enter’ image on the homepage, which is impractical, as this requires an extra click to access site information.
- The text color doesn’t make for ease of reading. Against the overly colorful background the text is extremely difficult to read.
- On the Friends page the listing seems to be unordered and has no real structure to the text.
- The site only seems to work in IE, not Firefox or Opera.
Improvements
- Changing the background color will greatly improve the site’s initial impact, as the current one looks very unprofessional.
- Make the page after clicking the ‘Enter Site’ image the Index, as this eliminates the need for the extra click.
- Redesign the colors of the site to work together to improve the readability of the info on the site. Also, a designated navigation area would boost the site’s usability and overall look and feel.
- Use a different HTML editor, as the editor (which is unknown to me) the designer used obviously doesn’t cater for cross-browser compatibility.
