Well the text book is pretty good. Its by tenenbaum which is one of the few text book author names I have recognized from the real world so far 
The assignments are all just lists of textbook questions to answer though and there is 0 tutorial matter, which ruined it for me...
If the lecturer is not going to do anything at all I may as well just buy the textbook and read that (thats how I feel about it anyway).
