April 29, 2006 03:52PM
Did anyone get their marks for assignment 1 yet?

They said it takes up to 2 weeks to mark yet I haven't gotten any marks yet.

No word yet on our results?

I'm just glad i'm not on dial-up!! Having to check every day for the marks could start to cost quite a bit.

If it takes this long to mark assignment 1, what about 2 and 3, let alone the final exam???

I haven't received marks yet either. Quite annoying especially since Assignment 2 is due, and I am unable to see where I might have gone wrong in Assignment 1, or where I can improve for Assignment 2.

I checked under my MyUnisa profile and had a look at the resources page under COS111U and they posted the answers there.. It's the one with 201 - I checked and compared my coding as to what they have... obviously I don't know exactly how I did but I have a fair idea ... GO check it out!!

Surely if our programmes work then we should get approximately full marks for the questions so dont worry so much

70 credits is mamimum..so what did you people get ?
Re: Assignment 1 marks
May 09, 2006 09:08AM
Hi

I got 66 credits witch computes to 94 % and you guys. Must still check where I lost points. Remember they deduct points for poor coding style and unnecessary long coding. If your indentation of your statements are not alligned accordingly things like that also. You may lose a couple of points there although your program works.

Hi Guys,

69 Credits = 98.57%
I'm stoked

Hi Guys

Look at Question 4 Assignment 2, in the question do they ask us to include mark 60 and 50. I only see above and below, what do you guys see. According to the question if the user enters 60 || 50 the program exits without displaying anything. I have contacted Mrs Viljoen one of the Lecturers asking her not to penilise us for this.

The way I see it is above 60 means 61 and up.
Between 50 and 60 = 50 -> 60
Below 50 = 49 and less

Re: Assignment 1 marks

That is how it suppose to be Valkeye, but the question says between 50 and 60. So that codes to 50 > and < 60. In programming technical detail like this can cause endless problems, think about it.

I understand what you're saying, and agree that things like this cause errors, but you've also got to understand what the question is trying to get accross, you can't think of a spec as a legal document to be followed 110% accurately. In programming we will always encounter unexpected situations, but we need to interpret them and apply the best course of action bearing in mind what the program is supposed to be doing. smiling smiley

But well spotted though. It's good that ppl bring these things to UNISA's attention. In one of the examples in the manual, you'll remember it, about the prime numbers, more specifically testing if a number was prime, try entering 1 as your input. The program runs into an infinite loop. They started their counter at 2 and always incremented, therefore if you entered 1, which is a positive integer as the question asked for, the program crashes!!
