I actually think it means n + n which is the same as 2n
set the first a to ^ go to the end and add a # and two aa
aaa becomes ^aa#aa
Keep going back to ^, set the next a to ^ and add two aa at the end.
When complete remove the #
I don't know if this is what they want but it works.
