Task 2C-4 Question 2
July 20, 2006 01:13PM
Locate 2 or more domain name registration services on the internet
Found the follow sites that offer registration of domain names
CozaHost.co.za
Register-it.co.za
sadomain.co.za

What is the cost to register a domain name?
CozaHost charges R249.00 for the initial registration and setup of domain name for the first year, there after a annual cost of R175p/a for renewal.

Register-it charges an R139.00 per year to register or renew a domain name

Sadomain charges R200 + trail email for the initial registration and setup of the domain name. There after the charge
R92 per month for the service

To whom does the registration fees go
Well after reading most of the topics posted on the forum and some investigation, I came to must same conclusion as most of the students. Some of the funds paid for the registration of a domain goes to the domain registrar (ICANN) and there other portion to the ISP that does the registration for you.

Does ISP's provide a free domain name registration service?
Some ISP's offer free registration of domain name, but in today's time nothing is for free so I suspect that the cost of registering of the domain is worked into the cost for hosting or any other product that the offer for sale.
