I have looked at your website and the image is showing correctly on my side. This suggests to me that your code is ok, but there is some issue with your browser. It could be that it is set up to block images or not load them. Have you tried it in different browsers, like Firefox, IE or Opera?

I am done with everything that is required according to the tut letter, but I keep thinking of ways to change the website and add more functionality. It feels like a case of OCD.

Read the first paragraph on page 16 of tutorial letter 101/3/2013.
"Send the URL of your website to the relevant portfolio lecturer (xxxxxx edited out). In the subject line of your post, use CSIW1DT: Portfolio: name: student number."

Your code looks right and I tested it with my own .gif image and it works. The only other thing I can think of, except what bigron11 said above about the filename, is that the image might be corrupt or not a .gif image (somethig like .jpg or .png).

They sent me a notice than my site's "FTP server (host)" was moved to "orgfree.com". My site was still available under the old URL, but when I wanted to log into the account manager I had to change the "FTP server (host)" from "6te.net" to "orgfree.com".

You can specify delivery and read receipt confirmations in your email client's options when you send the email, but I don't know whether this is considered a good practice or not.

The link seems broken. If you click on the Registration Procedure link on the left of the page, it says that registration will be open from 1 December to 30 January, so it seems like you would have to wait until then to register.

You can use whatever you want, including freeoda.com, as you will send the website address of your portfolio to the lecturer to be marked.

I did the Unisa SOC PHP course last year before this course and I can recommend it. It is a level up from this course in adding complexity to your website, like database access etc. Here is the link: PHP Course

One thing I immediately see wrong is that there is a closing bracket "}" missing in function checkform(form). You need to pay attention to detail like this when you program, otherwise you are just wasting your time randomly cutting and pasting code in the hope that something will work.

Yes, or you could upload it somewhere else. All that matters is that you send the link of your website to the lecturers to be marked; same as you did for the assignment.

Although I have not done anything like that, I think it would be possible to do using the JavaScript random() function to select a random index from and image array. For more information on the random number function see: http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_random.asp

I have just checked mine and it is still there. If you want, post a link of the site here and I will see if I can get to it. It might be a localised issue on your side that prevents access to the site.

It was mentioned in one of the threads that our portfolio submission will be is tested on the Chrome browser, so I make sure that all the JavaScript I use works in Chrome.

Note that in Appendix A of the Javascript section (pp. 117-119), everywhere the following text appears:
onClick = "returncheckform(this.form)"
it should really be:
onClick = "return checkform(this.form)"
There is a space missing between "return" and "checkform".

This question (also asked by you) was already answered in this thread: http://osprey.unisa.ac.za/phorum/read.php?754,179750
In short: "You can use what you want . As long as you code the HTML it yourself. This excludes classes like jQuery."

Ok, so I'll assume that when you say it IS showing in IE, you mean your local copy on your PC displays the image correctly when view in IE, but the copy on the freehosting server does not display the image when viewed in IE. In that case, did you upload the image to the freehosting website as well and is it in the same location relative to your local copy?

Please clarify - you say it is not showing, but it is showing on IE. Where is it not showing?

Start off by reading tutorial letter 101/3/2013 and following the course schedule (section 6.2, p.13) set out in it. On page 14 (top half of the page under the heading "Assignment: Create a basic presence on the Internet") it outlines what is required for the assignment and how to submit it. Continue working through section 6.2 and on page 15 (under the heading "Portfolio: Fully
