@bigron: Whoo-hoo! Yet again, your advice and pointers WORKED - dude, why are you so awesome?? (I mean that in a good way)
So, I completely neglected to use the variables I assigned in the opening section of the form's processing code ($model_id and $colour_id) in the $result= lines which is why the page wasn't able to match the selections of model and colour with the availability tab

Apologies for not zoning it in earlier with the code I think may be problematic... here is my "fill in the blanks" code for the selection based on yours in the tut letter:
<form action="" method="POST">
<?php
$result = $connection->Fetch('model','model_id' ?>
Model: <select name="model">

I've been having this issue for a while now and I'm trying to figure out why...
Whenever I click the submit button to check if the selected model is available in the chosen colour, the result is always "not available in the selected colour" even though I specifically set the DB to ensure the model's availability in a certain colour.
Has anyone had this issue and if

Never take things at face value they say...haha, yeah guys it seemed too easy however, you gotta code the function and call it correctly to score the marks I assume.

Yes mate, just stick to the portfolio page requirements i.e. we should all have the same number of pages upon submission.

YES! Problem solved thanks to your advice and code examples bigron! Both lists display and there are no duplicate records now I made the mistake of changing the initial Fetch(... , ...) statement Mac gave because I didn't understand it's purpose...the problem then lied with the query statement itself. After reverting and touching up, it worked.

Ahh, I see - thanks bigron! Gonna rearrange code now - will get back to you if I run into another snag or to let you know if it all works fine

Mac, what does $set_table_name do in your code? Can I rather use $model and $colour or does that variable contain both tables? Apologies if it's a silly question...

Sorry for the late reply. I resolved the form error you pointed out. Now it doesn't duplicate anymore however, only model's list displays while colour is empty...what am I missing here??

Where do I declare $set_table_name? When you say it's used twice, do you mean that there should be two separate queries: 1 for each table (model and colour)?

From model and colour respectively. $model and $colour are the names of those two tables I'm trying to extract from. I'll try the INNER JOIN syntax you recommended and get back to you. Do you think the loops that follow the SQL query code Mac gave us may be causing the duplication or not? Did you notice any problems with your Availability table when you created it exactly as Mac describ

Are two parameters supposed to be passed in the first place?? I ask that because the incomplete code that Mac gave us looks like this Fetch(.... , ....) which gives me the impression that two parameters need to be passed to the query...

I tried what you recommended. It failed to pull the data and instead threw out this error:
Warning: mysql_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean
I've been getting that error with a number of other parameters I've tried...
What do you reckon?

Did you mean I should do something like this:
$query=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM model".$model.", colour".$colour.""
That didn't work when I tried it...unless I'm not understanding what you mean?

Hey guys....
I got the model and colour drop down lists to display the data from the tables in the DB however, when either list is clicked, a long list of duplicate entries show up and I don't know why. Could it be caused by the loops Mac gave us or this code from the tutorial letter I completed (most of it was already in the tut letter for step 7):
public function Fetch($model, $colou

Np man, misunderstandings happen, no harm done, lol... I feel bad for over-thinking the question itself, haha...
Something tells me I may need your help with more complicated stuff on the later steps - will contact you if I do.
Arigato (thank you)!

Problem solved... It was understanding the question, lol... thanks for your efforts.
To answer your other questions:
1. Yes, I completed Python and yes I do understand what a class and an object is (that sounded like a trick question...)
2. No, I'm not asking you for code (I'm not keen on copying a fellow student's code) in fact I've already coded steps 1 - 5 correctly

Thanks for replying. I actually thought the question was clear enough since I mentioned step 4 in the tut letter...
This is what step 4 requires (copy and paste from the tut letter 102):
Step 4: Echo the results on a page named OOP_properties.php so that is reproduces the following paragraph (note the boldface, paragraphs, italics, heading 2, centered in the web page. You can use any font.)

Hi guys
Just want to find out how do you echo the results of the operation in step 4 to a new page named OOP_properties.php? Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi all
Quick question. Regarding the layout of your site, I envision having the index page display two links: one takes you to the assignment only and the other, to the portfolio page. All the relevant links will be placed on their respective pages.
Mac is the above acceptable or would you like me to display every link for the assignment and portfolio on the same welcome page?
by
37081888
-
ICT3612 Sem 2
Yes, the assignment only requires us to code four links. The portfolio can only be done after you do the assignment.

Hey man, I don't understand the need for a change as minor as this... I uploaded everything yesterday as prescribed in the original submission procedure document. It's the first I hear of the new name having to be URL.txt...
Does it really make a difference? Thing is, due to this being a high priority for all of us, we will not shake the feeling that this one little change could make a

MAc, I've got it working now. I tried your methods but, they didn't work so, I simply removed the spaces in the DB selections table itself and changed the coding accordingly. Works great now!
