Hi Warren,
List was a nightmare for me.
Perhaps if you could indicate what you are having trouble with we could help out?

Happiness!
Everything is working correctly (I think).
Now just to complete finishing touches on design and for a final check.
Does anyone know what the cut-off time is for tomorrow?

Hello Mac,
Yes I did and am making some headway on this page.
At the moment I am just really struggling with changing the fmark for each student. I tried using the same method I used for editing my courses and student info, but it's not working.
I will keep trying but if time runs out, could I be failed just on that point?

Hey Yusuf,
Feeling the same here!
Managed to get students displayed, but cannot edit the final marks for students. Tried everything I can think of and stress is getting the better of me!
Charles, any advice on how to edit the fmark?

Thank you Kiroant,
Will definitely take a look. Feeling very jealous of you at the moment for being able to finish off the project today already!
Congrats with that!
Kind regards

Hi Charles,
Thank you! And thank you for the tip in the textbook. Will definitely take another look, must have read over it somehow.
I am going to keep working as much as possible and hope for the best. Afraid that I still will not be able to finish.
Regards

No worries. Found my mistake!
My solution:
Language: PHP$cselect=$_POST[';cid';];
$insert_sql2="INSERT INTO course_student (sno, cid) VALUES (';$sno';, ';$cselect';)";
if (!mysql_query($insert_sql2))
{
die (';Error! ';.mysql_error());
}
//drop down
echo ';<select multipl

Hi all,
Funny thing happening.
When submit a student registration, the following happens in my course_student table:
| sno | cid | year | fmark|
| correct number is inserted| Array | 2013 | |
Why would the word 'Array' appear and not the actual course that was selected?
Coding for the drop-down list:

I am still not making any headway on this page.
I am no longer sure what I should be trying to join, or how. Frustrations and stress is getting the better of me!
Any advice for this page would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, is there anyone out there who tried to insert the course selected directly into the course_student table?
If not, where did you capture the info of who is takin

Hi All,
Charles, congratulations!
As for the deadline, I am stressed out of my mind because my own workload has just been about doubled in the past two weeks so have hardly gotten a chance to even think about the PHP portfolio, let alone work on it.
I now have to still get list.php to work. Then, there are some things I would like to work better, but I think I should be OK. Just very wor

I realize that this might be a very dumb question, but please bear with me.
When joining tables, are we supposed to do that in our PHP script, or in MYSQL php Admin??
Reason why I am asking is because all the tutorials and explanations I can find on this, are about joining the tables in phpMyAdmin.
If we should join tables using PHP script, can anyone point me in the right direction with

Great idea Alex! I was wondering what would be the best way to approach the deleting of courses.
At this stage I am just trying to get the basic things working on each page, and then planning on going back and adding in precautions like that.
I am done with this page in the sense that I can add, edit and delete courses, but at this stage I do not delete the students taking said course yet.

Thank you for clearing that up!
That means that I am actually almost finished with this page.
Just need to fix my validation so data would not insert in the database when there are errors.

Again, a post I already posted elsewhere, I am repeating here in the hopes that it would help me and others taking the course.
I am stuck on my student_reg.php page. I have my form and all the info is going into the database table correctly. I am however really frustrated about the email. I do not know where to even start with that. All I know is that every tutorial simply uses the $mailsent=m

Here is one of my posts that I have already posted under another topic. But since this is relevant to this specific topic, I decided to try and help to save everyone some time and include the post here again.
If anyone else is having trouble populating a drop-down list with date from MySQL, this video helped me quite a lot.

Hi Prof Mac,
I actually managed to fix it with an if(isset()) that I forgot to add in. So that problem solved! =)
I am now experiencing difficulty with the edit functionality, but first want to take another look at it to see if I can figure out my mistake myself before I ask for help again...

Started working on this page.
Managed to add and delete courses so far. Now just have to add the edit functionality and fix one glitch then hopefully have this page done! (I am getting very worried that I will not be able to finish this project on time...)
One question:
Whenever I load the page (not only with refresh, but actually when I go from index to this page) a new course is created

Thank you Bigron11!
I followed your suggestion and everything is working fine now!
Did not create a separate script for processing the form, as I am trying to keep to only the scripts we are supposed to have for the Portfolio assignment.

Thank you everyone for the advice!
I got it working, yay!
But now I have run into another problem. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.
When I refresh my student_reg.php, fill in the form for someone else and then click submit, the info for the previous form is sent a second time. To I end up having double entries for all forms completed.
Will continue look

Hello,
If this is not the correct place to post this question, please feel free to refer me.
I decided to start with the registration page of the portfolio, because I enjoy this part the most. I have however run into a Parse Syntax error that I cannot seem to find a solution to.
Below is my PHP code (I am only including part of it for this purpose. Please let me know if you need more. Note

Finished the tutorials and started with the portfolio this week.
Must admit I am experiencing many problems at this stage. Have started, deleted everything and started again twice now.
Am getting frustrated with errors etc. but after reading the forum I am feeling better. I will continue to try and figure out what I am doing wrong, but at least in I know where to turn to if I REALLY don
