Developed this very basic PHP website template that will load different page content depending on the value of the $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']. So you don't have to write the header and footer into each page. Will work on a menu that shows the correct page as selected.
Looking forward to hearing some thoughts.
Language: PHP<?php

Print and echo will actually work the same in the example I gave but I named the post with the hope someone would bring up the difference between the two. Thanks.

I've discovered you can print or echo variables with text without having to concatenate if you use the double quotes. Here's an example I found on php.net
Language: PHP// You can use variables inside of an echo statement
$foo = "foobar";
$bar = "barbaz";
echo "foo is $foo"; // foo is foobar
// You can also use arrays
$baz = array("

Regarding page two of section 10, did anyone else get the number "6143" printed at the end of their page when using readfile()? It's not in dictionary.txt and when I add file_get_contents() it goes away. My intuition tells me it's probably a character count. Anyone know for sure?

Ja big time, doing anything meaningful without the use of functions would be a real pain in the ass.

I don't see why you can't name your variables in Sesotho, but I would be wary of classifying your variables as "text" or "number". PHP doesn't require a data type when declaring a variable and PHP can actually convert data into different types, so, a variable that stared off holding an int may become a float or even string of letters.

I know this course is focused on procedural programming but I've been working through Codecademy's PHP track as a supplement to this course and they've just introduced objects which look like a great method for storing personal information. Are we allowed to use basic object orientated programming techniques for the final project or do we have to stick exclusively to the methods ta

Makes a lot of sense, limiting the scope of variables also saves us having to come up with different names for variables that hold similar information.

Yeah that was pretty interesting, I always wondered how Google did that "Did you mean ..." when you misspell a search term. Might be a similar function similar_text( ). Don't think they use PHP though...

Well the number picked is random, so it could be picked 500 times in a row.

Ja, 78044545CharlesU is spot on.
Only error I can see is on line 9 where you have
Language: PHPif(isset($_POST[';Submit';])){
should be
Language: PHPif(isset($_POST[';Submit1';])){
to correspond with name you have given to your submit button on line 29

Loving H&L, this stuff is awesome. Tried to redo the checkbox exercise from the forms section using loops to generate the inputs and content but got really confused when saving the checks. I'll have to have another stab it at a later stage when I feel more comfortable.

Just completed this section, keen to get building stuff.
@SK-77478452 I like that you're messing around with stuff like that. But I would have expected PHP to print "7" because $variable1 has a length of 1. Seems to me that if PHP is asked to add a string that starts with a number to an int or another string that starts with a number, it just adds the numbers the strings start

Got my course work, so stoked. @Rushil-77923553 Sublime Text is awesome, really digging it. @fspringhorn_78029031 there are no restrictions with the unlicensed version. Not even a time limit. But every now and then, after a save, it will ask me if I want to purchase a license.
