bigron11: Ok thanks. I didn't check for that Reanie: I am very close to the Parow branch so can easily go in, however I was told they no longer accept registrations in person? Or did you use the self-help registration terminals? Thanks for the speedy repliesby Moonfruit - Postgraduates
Hi there Is anyone else having issues registering for 2014? I am trying to register for my Hons BSc that I applied for (and was accepted into) in September, however when I reach the end of the registration process (the screen with the summary of all your details, where you select how to pay) and click Submit, I am taken to an error page. When I look at myUNISA it shows that I am registeredby Moonfruit - Postgraduates
Hi there I'm a little bit lost when it comes to Horn formulas. What exactly do they mean by "marking"? Could someone maybe provide a simple example of how to apply the HORN algorithm to a Horn formula so I can see it in action? Thanks Justinby Moonfruit - COS361F
Shaun, while installing the software exactly as per the CD may work for most people (as most people still run older operating systems), I had a problem doing it like that on my Vista installation, hence starting this topic. So if it works fine for you then by all means, install it as per recommendation. But if not, the easiest way to resolve the issue (assuming you have the same symptoms I hadby Moonfruit - COS340A
At one point I also had a working installation that did not include glut.h, so I obtained one by copying it out of another directory where I did have it, and I also got linker errors. And a template is really just a template, mate. Just delete all the auto-code it inserts and replace it with the stuff given in the example on the CD. You shouldn't have any problems (provided you installedby Moonfruit - COS340A
Hi all I am currently running Windows Vista Ultimate on my PC, and when I installed the prescribed software for this module this morning, I came across some problems. So once I figured out what was wrong, I decided to write this and offer my help to any others with problems. First off, the version of DevCPP supplied on the 2008 UNISA CD (4.9.8.3) is incompatible with Vista. So you need to dby Moonfruit - COS340A
I prefer using this method to convert an int to a QString: QString::number(int) For example: QString a = "My age is: "; int x = 24; a = a + QString::number(x); To convert the other way around is far easier, with methods such as (some QString).toInt() and (some QString).toDouble(); Hope this helpsby Moonfruit - COS3114
I just had a thought regarding my problem. Could the reason why its not working be that I'm putting my connect statement in one thread (PrimeWindow) while I have the slot that is being called in another thread (Prime)? Do both the connect and slot have to be in the same class? I know that it works if you read a signal from an outside class, but it seems that you can only connect to a sby Moonfruit - COS3114
Hi there I'm busy doing question 2 of Assignment 2 and, while I've managed to get everything working in theory, I seem to be experiencing a small problem when it comes to implementing my solution. I've made two classes called PrimeWindow (which displays the GUI and all that) and Prime (which does the processing of the number). Both classes run in seperate threads. My problby Moonfruit - COS3114
After struggling somewhat to get things set up on my new Vista 32-bit installation, I thought I'd post my results here for anyone having similar problems. I've only tested it on the 32-bit release, but it should work on the 64-bit and Windows XP as well. There is a way to start projects with all the info already entered...I think What I have done is create a new text file and renamed it "template.pro", with the following code in it: CONFIGURE += Qt INCLUDEPATH += $$(CPPLIBS)/utils LIBS += -L$$(CPPLIBS) \ -lutils # HEADERS += # SOURCES += Then you just copy this file into each project directory, rename it, uncomment andby Moonfruit - COS3114
OK, that makes sense I guess. Are you saying that I need to use QIde to write the source code for this example then? Also how does one know what program to use for each project? For example, how do you know when to use QIde and when to use a plain text editor with the g++ command line to compile? Thanks for the replies thus far. I've managed to narrow my problems down to a few specifics now First off, a little bit about my software and settings: I have installed all my files from the UNISA CD precisely as instructed; going through it slowly, in a central folder "C:\UNISA", which now contains the following directories: DevCPP (for COS111, 112 and 211, don't usby Moonfruit - COS3114
I do understand that, but I think that UNISA approached the topic incorrectly. A lot of the students here are relatively "new" to C++ in the sense that the only experience we've had is through previous UNISA modules (i.e. COS111, 112 and 211). With this module, however, they attempt to do 2 things at once: (1) introduce us to the more complex concepts of C++ (including design paby Moonfruit - COS3114
Hi there Firstly, I would like to make it clear that I understand and have no problem with the fact that COS311-4 is a high-level module on advanced program and, as such, can be very complicated. However, am I the only one who thinks that the leap between the material covered in COS211-X (I used Malik's book "Data Structures Using C++" last year) and the material in this moduby Moonfruit - COS3114
