Hi all,

Does anyone know if we can safely follow/trust the study guidelines in tut101 (pg 10). I mean for example it says from chapter 1, we only study up to section 1.4

Can I assume that the other material in this chapter is not examinable?

Ya - you can follow their guidelines.
Also I got a reply from the lecturer that all chapters with "optional" are not for the exam - just for your interest. (So you can skip all those as well)

Which chapters are optional? As far as I can see, we have to study Ch 1 - 14. The rest of the chapters aren't in the syllabus.

sorry - I meant sections in the chapters.
Check the index - you will see which are optional among Chapters 1-14

Yeah, I don't think they would test us on those optional sections. The lecturers in this module seem to stick to what they present to us in the tutorial letters, concerning exam's etc... unlike COS211, where they gave us last years exam to use as preparation. Unfortunately the standard in this years exam was at a way higher level so I think most people failed.

Gr8! Thanks guys.

Yeah, COS211 has always been a toughie! I wrote it 2 years ago and luckily got a supp. which I then passed. A friend of mine failed it abt 3 times before he managed to pass it.

Wrong information is being passed around. For examinable material go to page 10 to 11 of your Tutorial letter 101. All the sections given on the year program there are examinable. So please study them. That includes some optional sections.

It would have been really nice to have a tut letter that states exactly what sections the exam covers. sad smiley

Tutorial Letter 101 page 10 to page 11 states exactly the sections covered in the exam.

I think perhaps you've lost the plot a little? I found
everything that I needed to prepare in tut-101, so I'm not
too sure what it is you are after
