Problem Updating Files on Server
May 01, 2006 05:02PM
After making the required changes and saving, I get the following message:

The file "/var/www/osprey/mac/ecom/03/pt-return.php" has been saved.
(0 bytes written)

Note that it says that the files was saved, but then contradicts itself saying "0 bytes written".

In fact, it doesn't save. When I go back into the file, my changes are lost.

What's wrong?

Also, the "pt-return.php" file's contents is different to that shown in the tut letter. Should we change occurences of "http://www.yoursite.co.za"; to our site's URL as well? (It seems we should.)

I experienced the same problem.

I'll check into it - it is a recurring problem related to the Unisa firewall. Hang in there - it's real world problems, however trivial that may sounds.
T
here are a couple of differences in the file to the tut letter (notably double https but correct to example), but http://www.yoursite.co.za?

(I've corrected the double https now)

I don't understand your answer. Are you saying you don't know where I saw "www.yoursite.co.za"? That's what I've got in my pt-return.php file.

You should be able to update now - if you can't, please provide the exact path to the file so I can check. I had to change some permissions and have double checked, but gremlins do exist.

See error in tut letter - yoursite mystery solved. Root is 03/catalog.

Noted: When working in 09/catalog/pt-return.php now updates fine.

But the error still exists for the pt.php file either in the catalog/ directory - "The file "/var/www/osprey/mac/ecom/09/catalog/pt.php" has been saved.
(0 bytes written)"

or in the 09/ directory - "The file "/var/www/osprey/mac/ecom/09/pt.php" has been saved.
(0 bytes written)"

Hi Mac

Can you please sort out the problem below for me.

I don't think i have write permissions on pt-return.php

The file "/var/www/osprey/mac/ecom/11/catalog/pt-return.php" has been saved.
(0 bytes written)
