Assignment 01
April 13, 2006 08:40AM
Dear students,
At the time the 101 tutorial letter for this module was compiled, we used the third version of the textbook, and thus all references refer to the third version. At the time the document was sent for printing (September 2005) we were informed that a new version will be available in 2006 but the third version will still be available.
Thus students using the third version of the textbook will have no problems with study material, and may proceed to complete the assignments as set.
For students using the fourth version I include the following references:

Assignment 1:
Question 1 : H & C v3 and H & C v4 are both sufficient for students to complete the question.

Question 2 :
Add the references in italic to the 4th version:
Step Wise only covers the planning stages of a project, and not execution, monitoring, control, closure, operation and maintenance. Based on the information provided in Appendices A, B and D extend Table 2.1 on page 20 of H & C (version 3), and on page 22 of H & C (version 4), to include the activities for the complete life cycle. Appendices A and B are in both versions 3 and 4. Appendix D (version 3) are partially included in chapter 10, pp212 -216 of version 4. This will be sufficient for students to complete this question.
……the BS 6079 project life cycle as defined in Figure B.1 (p270 version 3) and p302 version 4….Question 3 and 4: H & C v3 and H & C v4 are both sufficient.

Question 5 : Appendix D is not included thusignore this question
The assignment credits will be 60 converted to 80.

Assignments 2 and 3 will pose no problem and may be completed with no changes.

Regards
