Hi Tazz

1. 2
2. 3
3. 3
4. 4
5. ??
6. 4
7. 1
8. 4
9. ?

18. 1
19. 2
20. ?
21. 4
22. 3
23. 1
24. ?
25. 4

Differing answers:
2: basically, I chose option 3 because I remember that in the 6th ed of the textbook, they have the text of option 4 in the side note of the page, next to Spiral models (yes, I've got the 6th edition of the textbook as well). I mainly chose option 3 because of the words "small scale systems and software" I'm pretty sure that evolutionary models apply to large scale software.

5: I haven't been through this section yet, so I wouldn't know what the answer here is.

6: actually, here I agree with you: all the options appear to be true, so none answer the question. If I was forced to make a choice though, I would choose option 4.

9: drawing a blank here, so I would tend to agree with you, although I couldn't give an answer of my own here.

11: its either going to be option 1 or 2, but option 2 feels more right smiling smiley

16: the testing described in the option seems to resemble security testing, not stress testing.

20: another blank in my case

22: from what I remember from inf207 or so from years ago, an actor to a use-case is anyone who interact with the system: might be and end user, but I would think that other systems' input/output would be defined then as an actor? Anyway, just a guess to this answer.

25: basically, the last part of the statement in option 4 is the problem: testing may not uncover all problems.

=================================

Anyway, thats my best guess answers. I've probably stuffed a couple of them up but I'll check them a bit later. and given the date of your post, you'll probably know where you've gone wrong by now smiling smiley
Anyway, I still have a lot to get through... so back to the books I go...

I agree with Taz, except for:
1. 2
2.3
3.4
4.1
6.4
11.2
16.1
22.3
24.4
25.4

I am pretty sure about these answers - spent about an hour finding them in textbook...
Number 3 I could not find in the textbook, but found it in notes I had made earlier, so it must be right winking smiley

Any comments are welcome, of course.

And I think this subject is quite tricky - LOTS of small detail that can be missed!

It's so easy to get confused with all this content.

@Darkling:

I think I picked up some mistkaes of my own in my previous answers, which I have since corrected. Looking at your differing answers though, I think my answers for 11 and 15 are probably the correct ones though:

For number 11, the question appears on the website for the book, under the test MCQ for Chapter 2. The answer given by them is option 3, so I think I'll stick with that smiling smiley.

For 15, I seem to remember the question as part of the MCQ questions on the website, again for chapter 2. Regardless, reading the material, option 4 can be discarded, since it was pointed out in the textbook that design in fact occurs before and during coding. Option 3 can be eliminated, since part of the design activity of XP is encouraging refactoring (the activity of changing the internal state of the software, without modifying its external behaviour, or something along those lines). Option 2 can be eliminated, since the activities of XP are: planning, design, coding, and testing. Which leaves option 1 as its only possibility. I din't see any reference in the text to prove this, but then again, nor did I see any reference (even in other process's) to disprove it. So hence it is the only possibility, since its the only option with a chance of it being correct.

The problem with the MCQ in the exam is usually that there some questions have clearly obvious answers, but then some appear to have an obvious answer, but in fact a single word in the option disqualifies it. Those are usually the questions with the "more-than-one" apparent correct answers... And since all my exams I've had issues with time constraints (if only I wrote as fast as I could type), then I tend to hurry through the MCQ's to get a start on the section B questions. Which means not reading carefully the question and answers... sad smiley

Wishblade, I agree to some extent with your comments on question 11.
From the TB (P58) it is somewhat debateable which is the correct option, and in my view not 1 of the options provided is really right.

However, this exact question was asked in assignment 1 Q2, and the solution provided in tut201 is 2, so I am convinced UNISA can't mark 2 as incorrect in the exam...

O yes, almost forgot - question 15.
See TB P72 3.4 second line: .....I'll provide you with an overview of XP, the most widely used approach to agile software development.

Good reasoning though Wishblade and the same result.

Aha... Thanks for that... I actually went looking for something along those lines and clearly overlooked it. smiling smiley Thanks for pointing it out!

In some cases, I wonder why no answers are provided to the previous exam papers? Seems that way for most UNISA CS and INF modules... The past papers are provided for review, but then if we get stuck we should contact them for help on a specific question. Why not provide a generic solution for the masses?

Anyway, enough of that... No use thinking about that now...
