COS306G V COS2699

Hi people,
I have done the COS2699 - Computer Networks last year. Then I saw this module (COS306) and thought it is a continuation of the second year COS2699 module. Since Networks seem to be ny strong side, I tried to register cos306 but the system refused with the following message: "you already have credit from an equavalent module"
Can someone please help explain this? Is cos 306 replacing cos2699? and have they upgraded the module to third level module?

I think COS269 was formally known as COS306. I stand to be corrected.
