After having added my catgories, i went to the file manager on the link provided in the tutorial letter...I uploaded the images i wante to use for my categories and products but when i browse for them and save it says "image does not exist"...What did i do wrong?

Well, just above the browse for images text box, the following appear: /mac/ecom/02/catalog/images/
That shows that you configuration files are not correct, since it points to 02 and not 09...

I am trying to upload images, but the following messages occur

Error: Destination not writeable.
Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /var/www/osprey/mac/ecom/11/catalog/images/

Try again. It has to do with server permissions. If anyone else experiences this, let me know please.
