assignment 3 question 2

i completed my bar chart. but my question is how can we draw a resource histogram without knowing how many resources is assigned to each task?

also, i think we must assume one resource works on each task in order to draw the resource histogram. would this be a valid assumption?

I did mine like on page 182-183 in the textbook...

ja any version of excel should be ok. i used 2007.

It seems to me that Figure 8.6 on p183 is riddled with errors. Unless I am missing something, "Specify module B" and D are overshot by 5 days, "Check specification C" is a day too long and "Design module C" is also off by one day. Does anyone agree with my assessment or is there some hidden truth that I need to revise from an earlier chapter? I kind of hope that I am wrong because it would simply mean that I have to try a little harder but if I am right then I feel that our learning material is substandard and additional examples would be in order. The Gantt charts provided in chapter 9 don't paint a clear picture of how to implement them either, which is required for question 4.

I don't have my textbook with me so not sure which diagram you're struggling with. Tut 101 does give details of a similar problem with Figure 8.3 though.
I am also feeling more than a little frustrated with the learning material so hey...you're not alone. THe hidden truth you seek is probably in a different text book! I did the assignment on a best guess basis. Might have to go see the lecturer for this one!

Thanx Clair. I saw the "errata" in Tut 101, which makes it a little worse I think, since it gives the impression that whatever is in the textbook needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. This is also the fourth edition. Wonder if the same problems persist from previous versions. No use crying over it unfortunately so I suggest that if anyone sees any irregularities they should please post it on the forum and then hopefully as a collective we can find a solution.
