To do, or not to do

Hi All,

I am looking at the possibility of carrying on 261C into this next year. Now, this year (261C) I struggled literally the entire year. I reckon this was my hardest subject and must have spent around 3/4 months of the year just doing that subject. In the end I managed to "click" and managed an 83% in the exam.

How does this subject compare to COS261 and any recommendations on the subject?

Cos361 is definately a continuation on Cos261. If you "clicked", you're ok. I struggled during the year, but managed to "click" just before the exam & luckily passed.

Code change to PLS3708 as a semester. Registered already.
Seems like no prescribed book. Just SG. Is that correct?

That's strage. I looked on that list where you can see the modules are you allowed to register for and I didn't see the PLS3708. I could register for COS361F though, and when you look at the exam timetable it looks like both subjects are offered: 

COS361F  	1  	2010-11-15  	08:30  	2 hour(s)
PLS3708 	1 	2010-10-28 	13:30 	2 hour(s)

How confusing...

I'm waiting till the last result is in before putting my registration through though.

If you look at Calender 2, page 55, PLS3708 is listed as a year subject.
But, according to page 116, it seems as if PLS3708 is replacing LGC1014, which doesn't make sense?
For further confusion, page 117 states PLS3708 is a semester subject.

And for further confusion, I just called the call centre and they say COS361 is still on offer and has not changed...

Also pg55, prerequisite COS261. Same purpose as COS361 from 2009 calender.

pg116. Oh, is that what that means.

I will now cancel PLS3708 and register COS361. (Luckily registration still says - in progress)

OK. Done. On myunisa, go to Registration and Study Info 2010, then click Web Registration.

The module PLS3708 had a description "Formal Logic"
Now COS361's description is "Formal Logic 3"

Much better.
