I submitted assignment 2 and 3 like I have always done with any assignment requiring diagrams. I used Visio to draw the diagrams and then pasted them into MS Word. Last year all my assignments where fine.
Now I get assignment 2 back and I get 0 marks for all my diagrams because it did not print in a readable format. What am I to do now?

I have always been scared of OLE pastes into Word when submitting assignments, so if I copy from Excel (where I draw diagrams!!) into Word, I PDF the doc before submitting as this should be safer. This also ensures that the printout will look exactly the same on the Unisa printer as on mine (page breaks, margins etc). There is a free PDF tool (GhostGum) on the Unisa CD we received on registration.

Hi, there the same happened with me when doing FA Diagrams for COS201. So I started saving my Visio diagrams as .jpeg or .gif files. It worked perfectly, haven't had a problem since!

Alternatively you can use OpenOffice and save as pdf. OpenOffice is free and can read all MS Office documents including Exel. OO documents are also much smaller than MS Office.

Yip, had the same damn problem. more the problem is when I tried converting my MS word doc to PDf, the size was greater than a meg, so guess what that was stopper as well..
Wish the lecturers allowed mailing the doc to them if it was bigger than a meg.
