I'm ready to embrace 2009
December 30, 2008 07:45AM
I wonder when Mac is going to archive the 2008 posts, so that we can start of fresh for 2009?

Looks like he forgot that there is no such thing as rest for administrators...

Yes, but I'm sure he is not going to do it at 23:59:59 2008/12/31....

And he did it last year around 19 December...

I think he forgot... and is now laying next to the beach and couldn't care less! smile

I thought you meant you're ready to embrace 2009 in general.

I know I am, maybe not for Unisa studies but in general I am.

i think 2009 is gonna suck for me.
2008 sucked and was basically an intro.
yeah im really optimistic (not) but realistic.

my position at work is going to be outsource prob, so i'll leave there.
thats a bummer, but maybe a good thing

I think we are better off going into 2009 than we were going into 2008. At least this year we know that things are going to be tough and are pretty much expecting a tough time ahead. When we started 2008, we were still riding the crest of a very successful 2007 - and then the shit hit the fan, and the rest is history.

I think we are going to have a challenging, but interesting year in 2009.
I do however wish that I was finished with my studies for now. There is soooo much else to do - and so little time.

well, it is starting off well... more fuel cuts coming, and hopefully a few interest rate cuts smiling smiley
Re: I'm ready to embrace 2009
January 05, 2009 08:22AM
Why do you worry about interest rate cuts... Your already on prime - 10 smile
avatar Re: I'm ready to embrace 2009
January 05, 2009 08:32AM
hehehe, nope, even worse. We are on prime min 2, and then when the reserve bank cuts rates, we are not guaranteed for a cut, like the last one, the banks staff rates staid the same smiling smiley

January 05, 2009 08:45AM
Prime -2?! is that all? I'm on -1.25, what is 0.75, I were under the impression bank staff got more like -3, that sucks!

Re: I'm ready to embrace 2009

it used to be -3 a long time ago. but its now -2 and like Riaan says, they don't always drop it when the rates drop. they do however put it up when the rates go up.

We dont get a fixed thing like prime min 2, it just happens to be there at the moment. They fix it at will, and they have not dropped it since the last cut. Before that we were on prime min 2.5....

also depends on what 'level' you are in the bank... as a pleb you actually get a higher percentage below prime. although that may also have changed since the last time I was aware of these things
Re: I'm ready to embrace 2009

Banks and there rules always fascinates me. Given that Celene is true about "as a pleb you actually get a higher percentage below prime"

The opposite is true when your a client & a pleb[1], you get ripped off on low credit interests and high debit interest. But you work for them and your a pleb it's other way around.

Now the reason behinds this also is very clear. If you are a client & pleb your a nuisance and you cost them more than what they make of you hence the poor interest rates. If you work for them & pleb, your less of a nuisance cause the can "use" you at a minimal wage, and they try to tie you in with relative good interest rates, which you'll loose if you decide to leave. Sneaky, but suppose it's all about steeling from the poor and hanging onto it by the rich, else Robin Hood would have nothing to steel from the rich, typical.

[1] (no offence, everybody starts of as a pleb, except those fortunate b@st3reds & b1tch3s that gets born into a stinking rich family smile )

Also, if you aer a pleb, they contribute much more toward your medical aid, and you get over time as well...
