Task 6A-1
July 21, 2008 08:29PM
1. Websites explaining techniques for hacking:
http://www.hackthissite.org/
http://www.elhacker.net/hacking.htm

2. Hacking tools and techniques described on these sites and readily available for download:
Password crackers, Hacking en web-sites, hacking win 9x, etc
Hack WEP, Wi-Fi, 802.11, wlan,
Keyloggers y Sniffers

• How these techniques might be prevented?
Regularly update the anti-virus programs.
Install and update firewall pc’s
Check the security logs for possible hacking
• Is it good that such detailed instructions are freely available on the Internet?
No, it is a bad thing. It almost makes it possible for anyone to try out hacking, and if someone has bad intentions and a lot of time, they could really cause some damage and trouble. It also let administrators know how they do the hacking, so they can also stay on top of their game at all time.
• Should network administrators monitor hacker sites? Why?
Yes. It’s always a good thing to try and stay on top of the game and to know what is going around and to try and prevent it from happening. It might also be a very BIG task to take on to try and stay on top of everything. There is a lot of hacking sites and a lot of information available. So Administrators might have a look at the sites every now and then just to see what is developing.
