For NQF level see:
www.nqf.org.za/html/docs/english.htm#8.
(include the fullstop at the end)

For credits see:

Thanks for the information Toby.

Regarding the NQF level I know now what is behind:
5 stands for training / diplomas resp. national certficiates.

Regarding the credits I could not find the information I need. I was searching for http://paqs.saqa.org.za/search.php. I was just entering NQF level 5 and provider University of South Africa. But no Internet & Web Design was shown.

Please give me a hint since the credits I found were ranging from 120 to 360.

Thanks in advance for your kind support.

Regards,
Iris

Iris the link I gave says:
In essence, a short course is a type of short learning programme through which a learner may or may not be awarded credits, depending on the purpose of the programme. A Credit-bearing short course is a type of short learning programme for which credits, in relation to the course's contribution to a particular programme, unit standard and/or (part) qualification, is are awarded. (Paraphrased from CHE, 2001:44). A credit-bearing short course contains less than 120 credits. An example is skills programmes leading to the achievement of credits in relation to a qualification.

A Non-credit-bearing short course is a type of short learning programme for which no credits are awarded in relation to unit standards or (part) qualifications depending on the purpose and/or assessment of the programme. An example is programmes where less than 1 credit can be awarded.

And that is as much as I know
Unisa does not register their courses with saqa

Toby,
alright, but I am sure you can tell me what the highest credit is.
My boss was asking credits 12 ok, but ranking from how much? Were perhaps 20 credits the highest?

Thanks & regards,
Iris

Iris I do not know - the info I gave you says 120 credits is the highest - send an email to Alta and ask her - perhaps she will know

Since I have got information from Alta - thanks to her and to you Toby - I would like to briefly summarize to let all other students know:

NQF-level 5 = training - diploma/certificate
credits 12 = 120 hours expected working hours

Have a nice day!

Regards,
Iris
