Javascripttutor.zip exercises
April 14, 2008 08:12PM
Hi,

I'm going thru the Javascripttutor exercises and when I click on Try it or Here is a solution, the page doesn't load. I have a message alert saying "Problem loading page".
Could you please tell me how I can resolve this?

Many thanks in advance,

Regards,

Vanou

hi

They all work for me - put your security settings on medium and click on allow blocked content

Remember that you can see which file it wants to open when your mouse is over the link - for example file:///C:/javascripttutor/javascript/sample_05-04.html
You can then go and open that file yourself in IE and notepad to look at the solution

Else do the lessons using Firefox

When it opens the solution page you must "view the source" to see the solution

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I put my security settings on medium but I can't find "allow blocked content". Where should it find it?

Thanks,

hi

Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced ---> Allow active content to run in files on My Computer

Also check Security --> custom ---> Allow ActiveX

Did you try with Firefox?

I'm still stucked with this problem of loading pages.

Yes, I tried with Firefox but I still can not load the links.

I followed your instructions:

I went on Internet Options --> Internet Properties --> Advanced --> but I can't find the Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.

I also checked Security: it's on Medium and Allow ActiveX.

For example: How can I open the link 2002 course Home page (Assignment2.pdf)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

hi

Why do you want to open that link? It is for 2002
use Assignment2.pdf that is on your CD in the assignments folder

I do not know why your IE behaves in the way it does - where did you extract the zip folder to?

The first thing to do when you get a message similar to page not loading is to check if the missing page is on your harddisk. Did you go and check if the html file is actually where it should be? (such as C:\javascripttutor\javascript\sample_05-04.html) If it is there did you try to open it in IE?

Hello,

Ok. I understood my mistake! It's not a problem with IE or Firefox.

I realized that I did not extract all the files from javascripttutor.zip to the right folder.

Now, everything is working well!

Thanks again for your help!
