Exam Re-Marks
January 07, 2008 01:58PM
Hi guys

Have any of you ever requested an exam re-mark? How did it turn out?

I received 71% for one of my subjects, so I'm considering requesting a re-mark (if I'm correct I think 75% is a distinction?) and I would like to know if it worked out for someone - I read a post by an INF student that waited over a year for UNISA to get back to them with a new result...

never bothered.

75% is a distinction. Unless you are planning on getting a suma magna whadada cum laude, then its probably not worth asking for a remark.

I also never bothered asking for a re-mark. Look at the back of your exam timetable or the exam results that was posted. It says what the conditions are for a re-mark.

I knew I should've kept it!

I'll have to try the re-mark then, I never used to bother with marks but since I found out that degrees are graded in many overseas countries, it's no longer okay to 'just pass' - I'd like to have my degree count elsewhere as well. Most of the UK (I was watching mostly Ireland and Scotland ads) positions I was interested in required a B+ to A degree, almost nobody wants anything lower than B (<60%).

I'm just a bit nervous about re-marking, the re-marked result is final, whether it's lower than the first or not...

No they are not allowed to lower your marks, I think.

if you have a south african degree, no matter where in europe (uk included) and the usa, canada and australia - you are most likely going to have to write an eqivalency exam anyhow.
