the basics of it are:
* logical programming - which is very very different from "standard" procedural/OO programming but if you get the hand of it, not too difficult (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logic_programming)
* AI algorithms such depth first/breadth first/best first (including heuristics)
* Problem solving programs such as planners
if you can adapt to new ways of thinking about programming you should have no hassles what so ever.
I bought my books from amazon.co.uk last year (it was cheaper than kalahari event with the VAT and delivery charnges added) for £39.89 (its now going for £41.76 about R600).
very true... and customs clearance takes up to 48 hours!
if i've done my maths right buying this years books (2 of them) from amazon leaves me with about R400 bucks to play with for the warfage/customs clearance charges and VAT...
so all in all it should work out to about the same price.
