I so wanna be there, the problem is I live in Pretoria and I don't have a carsad smiley
I tried to get someone to come with *who has a car* but no one seems to be interested
in the whole programming.

Micheal

Do you perhaps have feedback sessions from the meets? I unfortunately moved out of Joburg a year ago (I'm now working across the border), but would have definitely been an avid attendee, especially in the Java based meets. While unfortunately the obvious networking opportunities are lost, I was wondering if the knowledge shared during the sessions are available afterwards, in an electronic format, for example.

Regards
Arnold

Hey

We don't have anything like that now. Would a recording of the session and posting the slides (if any) be useful?

Thanks
Michael

Hi Micheal

Recordings would be great, along with any slide presentations, assuming that there are available.

As I mentioned previously, I tend to find that the knowledge shared during these sessions somewhat valuable - while the net provides easy access to various technologies and how to use them, there seems to often be a missing step on why and when they should be used. Although these can also be researched with a visit to one's favourite search engine, I tend to find that in many cases, user groups and sessions like that which started this thread provide a complete "package" (even in potentially small, implied manners). smiling smiley

Potentially, what might be an idea (depending on available resources and the cost involved), is to perhaps stream the meet for those that are far away and can't make it smiling smiley I guess this potentially leads to a drop in physical attendance, but if some control can be put in place, then perhaps it can be considered? Just a thought...

Streaming would be cool. I'll see if I can rig up something via Skype for the August 29 session. I'll PM you my Skype id.
