I have not quite understand equijoin. Can somebody help me in that respect. Moreover, for outerjoin wil we be explicitly told to perform a left or right outerjoin or do we have to choose one ourself?

The equijoin is essentially a natural join but does not eliminate duplicate columns (middle of pg 91).

I'm working on the assumption that because the outer join direction hasn't been specified, they want unmatched values from both of the tables.

Both a left and a right join will be accepted.
