What issues are you experiencing? It is quite hard assisting on a "how do you run programs on this software" issue... Have you ever run a program before? On any framework/software? Do you know where your log of errors in QT is displayed and can you quote them? What are you trying to run? Have you installed it successfully? Etc. One of the most important qualities of a developer is to be concise yet exceptionally clear in stating their exact problem they are experiencing on a forum, otherwise you will never get any help. And equal to that quality is being able to debug your own situation so that you can actually see where the problem lie, that is, really, the essence of software development...

Guys I am sorry but I a getting problems getting started, I just cant find my output on trying a simple interactive program. All I get when I click the application output button is the following...

unning build steps for project fact...
Starting: C:/Qt/2009.03/qt/bin/qmake.exe C:/Qt/fact/fact.pro -spec win32-g++ -r
Exited with code 0.
Starting: C:/Qt/2009.03/mingw/bin/mingw32-make.exe -w
mingw32-make: Entering directory `C:/Qt/fact'
C:/Qt/2009.03/mingw/bin/mingw32-make -f Makefile.Debug
mingw32-make[1]: Entering directory `C:/Qt/fact'
mingw32-make[1]: Nothing to be done for `first'.
mingw32-make[1]: Leaving directory `C:/Qt/fact'
mingw32-make: Leaving directory `C:/Qt/fact'
Exited with code 0.

How do I view output and interact with my program. This I got after i ran the simple factorial program in the prescribed textbook.

Someone help please.

I got the same problem the program in QT developer. When you code it in the C++ developer used in COS111 and COS 112 it works. I believe that the QT developer doesn't seem to work the same for simple C++ programs.

Is there anyone who can help with how to develop simple non-QT applications in the QT developer?

Hi All,

The following are steps on starting your first progarm " Hello",

Step 1: Open a QT Creator
Step 2: Click "Create New Project" tab
Step 3: Select "Empty Qt4 Project"
Step 4: Name the Project and "Create in" "C:\unisa\cos214" directory
Step 5:Click "Finish"
Step 6: The Project file is created. Then Click "File" and select "New"
Step 7: Select "C++ Source File"
Step 8: Just type Name:
Step 9: Click "Finish"
Step 10: The source file is created inside the project. Delete the code statement created.
Step 11: Start coding:

#include <QApplication>
#include <QLabel>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])
QApplication app(argc,argv);
QLabel label("HELLO QT! " );
return app.exec();

Run the program....the first green button in your left below.

That helps for coding a Qt program. The question is: Are we able to use Qt creator to code and run normal c++ programs?

Yes we can...In Step 7: you should choose "Qt4 console Application" intstead of "C++ Source file"....
