MyLife POP3

Hello all,

Can someone please help me with the settings for MyLife pop3 access?

I'm trying to set up POP3 or IMAP settings on my outlook 2007 to retrieve mail from the MyLife server:

Below are my current settings but I can't log in:

Your name: Lloyd Moodley
Email: 33236755@mylife.unisa.ac.za
Account Type: POP3
Incoming mail server: mylife.unisa.ac.za
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mylife.unisa.ac.za
User Name: 33236755@mylife.unisa.ac.za
Password: *********

The errors I get are: Cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) email server and Cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server

if you'll post the password (it didn't come out very well above), we could fix it

I want to avoid posting my password on the web
But I can tell you that the password is absolutely entered correctly. I know this because I use the password to access my account perfectly on the web.

Also if the password was wrong; I would assume the error message would say something along the lines of Invalid username / password
You could not be authenticated
or something similar...

Did you manage to get it right? Can you retrieve email via MS Outlook or another Email Client?

I just put a fowarding addy on it. When I get mail on my usual client, I login on myLife. Thankfully, this happens rarely.

Yeah I also forward the mylife emails to my gmail account. When I get mail, i log into the mylife account simply to mark it as read.

It just seems like such a bother; esp when I have a slow line. I could throw my PC out the window!

Maybe I need to get out more; but slow internet connection speed frustrates me.

Reminds me of the days of the bad old days with my 14.4 kbps modem.

take the plunge and get broadband. Vodacom 3G 2GB for R450 - expensive but mobile. What about telkom wimax? You get a modem free and it's fast and cheap.

have adsl at home; but at work everyone goes ballistic with the internet connection: so its extremely slow.

Maybe I'm just being fussy; but i'm starting to lose my patience with slow technology in 2009.

According to my AI text book they expected Intelligent Agents to be on par with the human brain in the late 60s.
40 years later my internet access is still no faster than a snail.

mine works pretty well on thunderbird[\B]. tried it on outlook and it took so much undeserved time just for setup, I gave up.

Your pop and smtp servers are wrong use: pop-eu.exchangelabs.com/ imap: imap-eu.exchangelabs.com, smtp: smtp-eu.exchangelabs.com

What's the username and password .. trying to setup on my cellphone... and it's complaining about that ??!

your user name and password will be the same user name and password you use to login using the web interface

Tried that ...still doesn't want to connect !! .. not giving any error messages ??? ...

i am using the following settings on my Nokia N79 and I can login

User name
33236755@mylife.unisa.ac.za

Password
Blah123

Incoming mail server
imap-eu.exchangelabs.com

I haven't setup sending email from my phone cos I don't need it.

Thanks i got it to work using my Nokia N70.
I setup a mailbox with the settings as stated above.

What is the web adress if i want to access via the web ?

LOL !!! Stupid me !!!

I'm using evolution mail on ubuntu linux.

When I try to set up the mailbox there is an option to use an OWA link.

I assume this link will contain all the information necessary to make an IMAP connection to the Microsoft Exchange server.

Does anyone know where I can find the OWA URL for MS Exchange related to the mylife.unisa.ac.za server?
