Done.

Had to use $link_id = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', '') instead of $link_id = mysql_connect(). Am enjoying this part more than the sessions from the previous lessons. hot smiley

PS. How do I set the root password for mysql. Can set it at home, but at work once set I get locked out of the databases. confused smiley I use phpmysql to set the passwords.

The root password for mysql is set when you install XAMPP (or mysql when as a standalone) Do you mean setting a password for a database so you can connect with your code?

Hi Mac

With reference to the root password. I insytall xampp (ver 1.6.5). I then open up phpmyadmin. At the bottom of the screen it displays the message :

"Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole"

I click on Privileges link. I then select the root user for host 127.0.0.1 and click on the edit button. In the edit screen I the scroll down to change password, where I enter the new password. I then repeat the process for local host. When I then try to access the system with phpmysql or with my php scripts I seen to be locked out. I need to reinstall everthing to undo it.

You can type the root login/password in phpmyadmin's configuration file config.inc.php
