Status bar

Hi,

When I test my assignment2.htm in IE everything is fine.
When I test it in Netscape the tooltips do not work
- the pop-up window come up as a full page in Netscape
but
I uploaded my assignment to the osprey and absamail site and here I get the following problems
- the status bar - default and scrolling and other messages I send there do not work.
- the pop-up window come up as a full page in Netscape
- the tooltips only work on IE.

Anybody else experiencing the same problems?

If I load my assignment in the Opera or FireFox browsers - even the layouts differ.

Regards
Reinie

hi
Tooltips are IE only - it will not work in Firefox etc.
Did you use the Masterskill script for the scrolling message or something else - if the Masterskill one remember to add the onload to the body tag - it is not clear in the Masterskill manual

Hi,

I used the example in the Master Skills book.

It (status bar scrolling) is working when I run it locally on my PC at work.

It is not working when I run it from the osprey site - on my pc at work.

I tested it on a friends pc at home (http://osprey.unisa.ac.za/toby/vandijk/assignment2.htm) - and it was working.

Maybe it's got something to do with our firewall - is that possible?

I have the same problem with the default message or scrolling message in Netscape. I did add the onload in the body tag but still have the same problem.

I also have the same problem with the pop-up window in Netscape.

My scroll message works fine.

However, I also have the problem that in Netscape my pop-up window opens in a full window and not in a separate one. The other links that have to open in separate windows, also open in the same window. I use the window.open Javascript method.

do not worry about Netscape - does it work in Firefox?
you do not need JavaScript for the pop-up - you can also use target=NEW

what about this

function openWindow(address)
{ window.open(address);
}
